While this date will forever be remembered for the events that rocked our great nation, there were other events that occurred that day that will be remembered for good reasons:
One of those puppies, a male, came home with us on November 11, 2001. His strength of character and American heritage made naming him very simple. It is with great pleasure we introduce: CH Quail Run's Spirit Of Freedom, RN CGC
On November 28, 2001, Ike got his first duck, a mallard almost as big as he was ...
Ike at 7 1/2 months ... Our baby is growing up ...
Results of Ike's Optigen prcd test: Tested Genetically Normal (A1)
OFA Hips: CB-7537G25M-PI Elbows: CB-EL671M25-PI
Ike has successfully completed his Puppy Kindergarten, Basic and Advanced Basic Obedience and Level 1 & 2 Agility courses. He is currently participating in a beginner's flyball class.
On August 24, 2002, Ike earned his first AKC title - CGC (Canine Good Citizen).
Following a number of Reserve wins from the puppy and Bred-By classes we moved him up to Open and, in his first shows in that class on February 22 and 23, 2003, he earned his first AKC Championship point on Saturday and his first major points on Sunday at the Silver Bay Kennel Club I & II shows by going winners dog on BOTH days. Ike now has 4 points and one major at 17 months of age.
The following weekend at the Fiesta Cluster shows held February 28 - March 3, Ike WON the ACC Supported Specialty Sweepstakes and was RWD at the Specialty and at the Friday show. He was WD on Sunday and WD/BW on Monday and now has 8 points, with one major. Ike then "blew coat" and went on "vacation" until the end of May.
At the Mission Circuit shows, held over the Memorial Day weekend, Ike went WD and/or BW 3 of 4 days to complete his Bench Championship at 20 months of age. It was interesting that a dog born on 9-11-2001 would finish his championship on Memorial Day.
Ike earned his first Rally Novice (RN) leg at the 2007 ACC National Show specialty with a fourth place in his first rally competition. He went on to complete his RN title with three consecutive passes and an all-breed fourth place, with a score of 98 out of 100, the day he finished his title at the Hidden Valley Obedience Club (HVOC) all-breed trial. Though we had not practiced off-leash for the Rally Advanced (RA) class, Ike was moved up the second day of the HVOC trial and earned his first RA leg. We hope to train for and complete the RA title in early 2008.
