I recently decided that I had
enough original work started and could display them on their own page.
Typically, I've been studying landscapes and I have always said, "I don't do
people." Well, I finally tried one and was a little disappointed in
how it turned out. But that sparked my interest and with a little
encouragement from an artist friend (you know who you are), I've been able
to squeak out of my comfort zone and be a little more daring.
...for 2006. I am renewed
with inspiration and it is my intention to paint, paint, paint!
...for the year 2005.
Another critical time in my life where life dramatically changed. This
was another unproductive year.
... for the year 2004. I continue to use Jerry Yarnell teaching aides
and also attended a workshop this November with him in Huntington Beach.
...for the year 2003. You
won't see anything for that year. It was a horrid year. I
probably only started two or three paints and they were will unfinished into
the year 2004.
This year wasn't too bad.
You can really see a difference in these
paintings from the ones shown in Early Works. Please note that I am
still learning how to paint. What I have painted here are recreations
of ones supplied through Jerry Yarnell work books and/or video tapes.
I have yet to become confident in composing my own paintings, although I
have done a few.
Early on, I tried painting having no formal
instruction whatsoever. Then I discovered an artist/teacher on public
television by the name of
Jerry Yarnell. I give him credit for having taught me how to use
color, value and composition to create beautiful paintings. While I've
composed a few on my own, most of the paintings you'll see here are ones that
were originally created by Jerry.
