Welcome, This website is for family, friends, and anyone else interested in the history of the Sterling Ashworth family in California.
Sterling Ashworth had two sons that came to California during the days of the gold rush. David Crogan Ashworth also known as D.C. Ashworth came in 1849. His family settled in Mariposa County, California. His older brother James came in 1851. James family settled in Santa Clara county, California. Although none of the brother's descendants are famous they have taken part in every major event in the history of the state. David's descendants became ranchers, cowboys, and stagecoach drivers. Some shared in the history of Yosemite National Park. James descendants were some of the first residents of San Jose, California. James home still stands today in that city.
