  1. American Society for Quality (ASQ; 104,000 members):
    • San Diego Section 703:  Fellow Member (2008).  Newsletter Editor and Webmaster 2001-present.   National Six Sigma Conference committee member January 2001 (Got to introduce Tom Pyzdek!).  Multiple committees chaired.  Multiple times as speaker.  
    • Palomar Section 708:  Former finance and awards committee member.  Multiple times as speaker.  
    • Temecula Section 713:  Participated in establishing this section via Section 703 committee providing financial and other sponsoring efforts.  
  2. Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE; 102+ chapters world wide; formed in 1944):
    • San Diego Chapter: Director 1999-2001, Chair 1998-1999, Vice Chair 1997-1998, Treasurer 1996-1997, Secretary 1995-1996, and Webmaster from 1997-2004.
    • International Symposium ISSE45/SAMPE2000 (Long Beach CA Convention Center):
      • International Symposium General Finance Chair  
      • Process Management Sessions Chair
      • Speaker for two sessions 
    • International Officer:  Webmaster for International SAMPE 1999-2000.
  3. San Diego Engineering Society (SDES) Vice Pres. 1998-1999. 10,500 members. 41 local Organizations
  4. San Diego County Engineering Council (SDCEC): Numerous officer positions on the board.
  5. San Diego National Engineering Week (NEW; Every February; 15+ local Organizations):
    • Representative for SAMPE since 1998.
    • Representative for ASQ since 2002.
  6. Toastmasters Escondido Chamber of Commerce Club #5529:  Every Tuesday evening.  Club webmaster.   CTM level member status. 
  7. Mathcounts:  Volunteer 2003.  Representative for SAMPE and ASQ since 2002.  Competition for San Diego Middle schools sponsored by Hewlett Packard and several local organizations.  Successfully raised $2,750 for this event as of Feb. 2006.
  8. American Electronics Association (AeA):  San Diego Council member and board member.  Hosted two events (supply chain forum ~Oct. 2005, Lean guru April 2006).    The AeA Operations Roundtable for February 8, 2006 was on: "Kaizen Blitz Training, An Overview", presented by Mike Osterling.  March, 2007 in planning on VSM.
  9. BPS International Tour Group:  IDEC Biogen Facility Tour Feb 15, 2005
  10. San Diego ISO Users Group:  Hosted and coordinated tour / presentation January 19, 2005.
  11. Society for Software Quality:  Member 2008-9.

  • SDSU's Master of Science Bio-Medical Quality Systems degree program since 2004.
