William Breit - Recollection / Then and Now
I was an original member of the squadron reporting in August 1960.  I was in the Sheppard class with Norm Gerlich and some of the other old-timers.  A few months after completing Sheppard, I went to Vandenberg for crew training and was assigned to Dick Lemanski's crew R-41 as the DMCCC.  We became the senior crew at Site 9.  Other crew members were Vern Page, Bob Langlois, and Irv Allread.  I later served as DMCCC with Ray Streich, Jim Geoghegan, Jim Henderson, and George Miles on Instructor Crew N-44. This was in September 1963.  Later, I served with Jack Dollard, Irv Taylor, Don Holden, and Gerry Mitstifer on Standboard Crew S-03.  In late November 1964, Larry Page took over the crew. I departed the squadron in about March, 1965 en route to the 4000th Support Group at Offutt AFB, NE.  My job was staff missile maintenance officer relating to satellite launches from Vandenberg AFB by the 4300th Support Squadron. I remained at Offutt until December 1966 when I transferred to the Army in the Field Artillery Branch.  I retired from the Army in 1979.
