Hiram Turner - Recollections Then / Now

Not very long after leaving crew duty for safety, I found what I thought was a needed change to a maintenance procedure. Merle D. Turner had also moved from crew duty to maintenance and the change affected his area. One morning we met in the hallway and he said to me   Hiram are you trying to be a SOB [He didn't abbreviate]? A perfect opening so I answered  "Yes Sir, my name is  also Turner and I'm following the example set for me". He punched me in the idsection and went away laughing. M.D. "Terry" Turner and  I were later assigned to Whiteman AFB together and had a lot of laughs and a few water skiing trips to local lakes. Sadly, I attended his funeral less than three years later at Ft. Sam  National Cemetery.
