7/00 - 4/07 News Producer

During my seven-and-a-half years at Channel 3, I produced every local newscast aired by the station, including half-hour newscasts at 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm, as well as the 90-minute morning show "3 in the Morning". I also oversaw"Channel 3 News In Focus", a weekly community affairs show, which I also named. Primary Duties included selecting local and national stories for my newscast; writing scripts from interviews and wire copy; choosing the order of stories; communicating newscast needs to crew; and keeping the show on time.
Implemented format change to "3 in the Morning" at the end of July, 2001, and nine months later, the show was #1 in the mornings.
WEAR-TV is Nielsen Market #59 nationwide.

3/00 - 7/00 Associate Producer Associate News Producer for "FirstNews" and "Dayside". Job duties and responsibilities as above.
1/00 - 3/00 Production Assistant: Chyron Operator and Audio Operator Duties included checking line-up and communicating with producer and director to determine needs for the next show. Chyron included checking and correcting supers created by producer through Newstar, creating full-screen fonts using Chyron and Adobe Photoshop, assisting director in building insert graphics for the Still Store. Audio duties included setting out and checking microphones and setting up audio board for the show, including live shots as needed. Additional duties as Production Assistant included dubbing commercial and promotional spots.
11/99 - 1/00 Production Assistant: Camera Operator and Teleprompter Operator Responsibilities included sorting and distributing script, setting up studios, turning on lights, checking lights and changing bulbs as needed, cueing talent and communicating between talent and director on headsets, assisting director as needed to prepare for the next show.
Sci-Fi Channel    
9/90 - 3/92 Director of Fan Relations Ran strategic public relations campaign that resulted in cable providers signing contracts to carry the Sci-Fi Channel when it began broadcasting. Distributed more than 250,000 flyers to science fiction conventions and responded to hundreds of letters and calls from fans. Identified fan clubs and active fans and marketed the Channel to them. Organized Official Fan Club with over 100 Chapters in the U.S. and Canada. Increased international fan mailing list from under 300 to over 3000 fans and fan clubs. Public relations duties included speaking at conventions and club meetings, and media interviews. Wrote Fan Club Newsletter and script for 1-900 Fan Information Line. Designed layout for Newsletter using Publish It! and WordPerfect 5.1. Reported on fandom to potential investors. Liaison between fans and Programming and Affiliate Sales Departments. With Senior Vice President of Programming built database of genre films and TV series, screening product and writing screening reports. Reported to CEO.
Walt Disney World    
12/89 - 9/90 Department Assistant for Press and Publicity.

Receptionist in busy marketing department. Supported publicists during two Press Events: Star Tours Grand Opening and Dick Tracy Film Premiere.

3/89 - 12/89 Tour Guide Disney-MGM Studios Backstage Studio Tour. Delivered spiel on tram tour (30 minutes) and walking tour (one hour). Drove tram. Designated trainer for new tour guides. Other duties included traffic control, crowd control and guest relations.
9/88 - 3/89 Attractions Hostess Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Operated Fantasyland
attractions Peter Pan's Flight, Cinderella's Golden Carousel, Magic Journeys and It's a Small World.
Written Commendation for one year of Perfect Attendance, September 1989.
