Growing up in the Northeast with an avid interest in art, Avery Huffman Yee welcomed the opportunity to attend the Rhode Island School of Design to study painting. In 1995, she received a Fellowship Award to spend three months at the Oxbow Summer School for the Art Institute of Chicago. After four adventurous years at RISD, she graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and in 1997 with a Master of Arts in Teaching.
Avery has participated in solo, group and juried exhibits throughout Rhode Island and in Greenwich, Connecticut. She was recently selected to participate in RISD Represented, an exhibit of RISD Alumni and Faculty work at Trudy Labell Fine Art in Naples, Florida. Avery's subject matter ranges from landscape and botanical imagery to hummingbirds and still lifes.
