Tips & Hints

This block is a 10" block. (That is - 10 1/2" unfinished.) Use scappy white-on-white print fabrics for the background. Use a three different teal prints for the design.

For each block, cut two teal squares 4 7/8" x 4 7/8". Cut them in half diagonally. Cut four assorted white-on-white squares 2 7/8" x 2 7/8". Cut them in half diagonally. Make half-square triangles (half white-on-white and half teals) with 2" triangle paper or by your favorite quick half-square triangle method. They are 2 1/2" unfinished. See the February block instructions for my method. Cut four white-on-white rectangles 4 1/2" x 2 1/2". Cut a teal square 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".

Assemble four corner units by sewing a white-on-white triangle to each side of the teal side of the half-square triangle. See block graphic for placement. Press seams toward the teal fabric. Sew this unit to a teal triangle. Press toward the teal fabric. Sew a white-on-white rectangle between two corner units. Repeat. Sew the teal square to the short side of two white-on-white rectangles. Press seams toward the teal fabric. Sew the three rows together, following the block graphic. Press seams toward the outer edges.
