Arizona Regional Association - Home Page

The Arizona Regional Association (ARA) is a division of the National Speleological Society (NSS) and is composed of cavers in Arizona.

       

Meetings

The ARA meets generally three times per year.  The Winter Technical Presentations and Annual Meeting is held in January.  The Spring ARA Campout is genarally held in April.  The Fall ARA Campout is generally held in September.  The meetings are usually held on the fourth weekend of the month and are open to anyone having an interest in Arizona caving.

The "Winter Technical" normally rotates between Central or Northern Arizona and Southern Arizona on alternating years.  The Spring ARA is generally held in Southern Arizona (warmer weather) and the Fall ARA is generally held in Northern Arizona (cooler weather).  All dates and locations are dependent upon the host Grotto and are determined at the meeting previous.

Fall Campout and Caving

The Fall ARA Campout and Caving event will be held at the Cathedral Caverns, near Ashfork.   This is on private land, owned by cavers.

The September date has yet to be set, so stay tuned!

While ARA membership is open to all cavers in Arizona, many belong to NSS Grottos which are local chapters of the NSS.  The latest 'official' information for Arizona NSS Grottos is located at the NSS website listing.
