Payout
Structure
The
2006 payout structure will be as follows for both the Major and Minor Division:
Both
divisions will know the amount of the payout the day of the tournament since it
is based on the number of teams entering.
There are
20 regions across the
Each
region must contribute $1,000 towards the national purse which is $20,000.
On average
the
10% of
each regional tournament will go towards the purse for the regional playoffs
later in the year.
After the
costs and any field(s) maintenance are factored in, the payouts are determined.
The Major
division sends the top two teams from the AZ regional playoffs and any teams
that finish in the national FP3 points.
Entry
Fee Structure
The
entry fees for the five 2006 qualifier tournaments will be:
$110
– When paying within 7 days of tournament
$105
– When paying 7 days or more before tournament
$90
– ($450 total) When paying for the year in advance by Feb. 18th
Minor
Division
$60
– When paying within 7 days of tournament
$55
– When paying 7 days or more before tournament
$45
– ($225 total) When paying for the year in advance by Feb. 18th
If a team
selects the pay for the year in advance and can’t make it to a specific
tournament(s), all the team needs to do is notify Arizona Wiffle Ball 3 days
before the tournament date and you will receive a refund for that tournaments
portion of the entry fee.
In
a quest to help play Wiffle Ball for FREE, we will be sending out an Excel
spreadsheet which outlines many different sponsorship potentials.
Any player
or team can use any of the items on the spreadsheet to help in paying for entry
fees.
Each
team/player can apply 50% of the sponsorship fees brought into the league
towards their 2006 entry and are retroactive for previous tournaments if needed.
In the
example you get $100 for a company to hang their banner on the outfield fence at
two tournaments, your team can apply $50 towards its entry fees.
Playoff/Points
Structure for 2006
Any
team to win a regional qualifier tournament automatically qualifies for the
regional tournament!
The
regional playoffs will feature the top (four teams major) (six teams minor) at the end of the 5 NCQ
tournaments through out the year.
All teams
that win a tournament have an auto bid into the regional playoffs and all
remaining spots will be filled by the top point’s teams.
It is
possible for 5 teams in the majors to enter the playoffs only if a different team wins each of
the 5 qualifiers.
Points
will determine the final seeding for the regional playoffs.
Points for every NCQ will be reliant on two separate items
- a predetermined point total for first and second place and the number of teams
that enter the NCQ. First place, regardless of the number of teams will receive
60 points, second place 30 points. Each team thereafter will receive a number of
points, in reverse order, based on the number of teams that enter the qualifier.
For example, if sixteen teams enter a tournament the tournament champion will
receive 60 points, the runner up 30. The third place team will then receive 14
points; fourth place 13 points and so on. The last place team will received 1
point.

DETERMINING ORDER OF FINISH
Also changing slightly for 2006 is determining the way teams finish in a
given qualifier. Determining where a team finishes in a tournament is based on
how far they advanced and their win/loss record. Should teams have identical
records and vie for the same spot the below tie-breaker system will be used to
determine the official order of finish for the tournament.
1. Head to Head
2. Common Opponents
3. Fewest Runs Allowed
4. Strength of Schedule
5. Run Differential
