Decoys & Blind Placement

A Arizona waterfowl hunter all have his or her own ideas on what the proper way to set out there decoys. In my option setting more then a 6 - 12 decoys out is a waste of time and money.

Are local ducks are in flocks of 3 to 10 ducks, most of are hunting areas are small ( ponds and river areas )

We always set are decoys 5 -10 yards a way from the blind (Most blind are what we can make or find in the area we are hunting.)

Prescout the area, with a little luck you we see what and how the local ducks are using pond or river area .

When the migration start (most time Dec and Jan ) Ducks have seen the large setting of decoys

(50 -100 or more ) With a setting of 6 - 12 decoys we have had good luck with migration ducks!

Some like use Mojo Mallard or Hen Motion Decoy, I have seen Arizona Waterfowl hunter use only this decoy, and harvested good number of ducks.

We do not always take decoys with us, have found some time No decoys work best and just use are Olt calls .
