Neratian Tree Kraken
Carnivores native to Nerat[1228]/Gushemage/Gushemage, these very dangerous animals closely resemble Vlandian fur trees.
The preferred prey is in the 40 to 400kg range although large specimens have been known to attack ground cars.
Dangerous when young the Tree kraken develops better armor and is capable of inflicting more damage as it grows.
Introduced to New Rome in 703.

Vlandian Fur Tree
Plant life native to Vland[1717]/Vland/Vland, from whose branches is harvested a durable fabric. Specimens range from 1m to 50 m when mature. The trees, with a lifespan of around three hundred year, produce sheets of light green fabric from 0.1m to 5m square. They begin producing the 1 to 2 square meters of fabric after 4 years. When mature they will produce about 15000 square meters per year. The fabric is fire resistant and insulates well in cold weather. It is easily worked and takes dyes well, but was generally abandoned as synthetics became available. The trees have been established on a number of worlds throughout the Imperium. Introduced to New Rome in -300.

New Rome Self Determination Movement(NRSDM)
In 920 NRSDM operatives bombed MYCOLONIES offices in Ballahack causing thousands of credits of damage. Further bomb threats, followed by the arrests of plotters who were swiftly sentenced to penal mines kept the system from gaining its independence in 922. The movement wasn't heard from again until 1000 when a group claiming to be the NRSDM took responsibility for a worldwide series of bombings. Over the last hundred years the bombings have continued in an on again off again pattern as new generations take up the cause. In 1115 New Rome city was rocked by over eighty bombs, which killed 9,600 sophonts, including the MYCOLONIES planetary manager.  The groups goal is the independence of New Rome.
GM note

MYCOLONIES LIC was chartered to exploit marginal worlds in the Imperium using displaced sophonts. Of the twenty worlds managed by MYCOLONIES since its charter was granted, three have acheived independance and prospered. Four were given independance prematurely by the Ministry of Colonization and had to later be taken over again by the company. MYCOLONIES exacts longterm employment contracts for its colonists and descendants. These may be bought out in a relatively simple procedure. Its expense keeps most from taking advantage of the clause.
