Bahá'í Libraries and Archives Listserv

The Bahá'í Libraries and Archives internet list is an unmoderated list for networking and sharing ideas among those interested in applying library, archival, and similar information sciences to the development of the Bahá'í community. The forum is particularly concerned with the establishment and growth of Bahá'í libraries and archives, and will serve as a primary means of communication for the World Association to Promote Bahá'í Libraries and Archives currently under development.

Those wishing to join the listserv should send a request to join, as instructed below.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Subscribing:

Subscription to the list is not automatic for everyone who applies.  To subscribe to the list, send an e-mail message with the subject "subscribe bahai-libarc" to bahai-request@bcca.org.  Include in the message a description of your involvement or interest in Bahá'í libraries, Bahá'í archives, or activities of other related information professions in the Bahá'í context. The list-owners will then review the subscription requests to ensure that membership is focused on the primary purpose - to promote libraries and archives within the Bahá'í community.

Unsubscribing:

To unsubscribe from the list, send an e-mail message with the subject "unsubscribe bahai-libarc" to bahai-request@bcca.org.

Sending Messages:

To post a message to the group, send your e-mail to bahai-libarc@bcca.org.

Other Administrative Requests:

All other administrative requests (e.g. mail problems, technical issues) should be sent to bahai- request@bcca.org.

Netiquette:

Bahá'í Libraries and Archives is not a moderated list. However, the Bahá'í Computer and Communications Association (BCCA) has developed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Electronic Netiquette for the services it offers to the Bahá'í world. Subscribers to BCCA forums are expected to read and abide by the guidelines outlined in the FAQ. To receive a copy of the FAQ, send a blank e-mail message to get-faq3@bcca.org, and a copy will then be sent to you automatically.

All participants are expected to follow the general standard of decent Bahá'í conduct and consultation, the professional ethics of the library and archives professions, and the general rules of conduct as described in the "netiquette" FAQ. The BCCA Coordinating Committee reserves the right to remove any subscriber from a BCCA-sponsored forum for on-line behavior that does not conform to Bahá'í standards of conduct or for continued disregard of the guidelines outlined in the "netiquette" FAQ.

INTERNATIONAL ARCHIVES: the institution charged with responsibility for the preservation of the Sacred Texts and Relics and the historic documents of the Cause of God.

INTERNATIONAL LIBRARY: ...the central depository of all literature published on the Faith, ... an essential source of information for the institutions of the World Centre on all subjects ... In future decades ... it will serve as an active center for knowledge in all fields, and it will become the kernel of great institutions of scientific investigation and discovery.
