This is Todd's new paint job.

It looks great, but is it to be street queen now?

Todd wants it made perfectly clear, that this is no queen!!!

This shot was taken the week after he painted it.

Standard vs Super

John thinks this should settle the ongoing arguement as to who's is higher, Todds standard or Kurts super. Does crap piled on the roof rack count? Still the downfall to the super is the lower control arms hanging down.

I don't know if settles it or not. It's really close, but I think the standard has it by a hair. If you look at the rear photo, Todd's looks as if it has more engine clearance. And definitly more tire clearance, although this could be partially due to the different fender style. I'd be willing to bet, that Kurt will argue this completely.
I think we need to break out the tape measure in order to settle this one without question.

Notice the power plants in these. You already know that Kurt is running a Corvair motor, but what's that in Todd's. Read on.

Here is a recent pic of Todds '73 baja after a few steriods. This car has been in the dirt, mud, in water, over water, under water, upside down, on it's side and it still keeps going. It has a 1.7 porsche 914 motor in it with a bus trans. Todd modified the front with type 111 disk brakes and some offset plates to raise it.

Here's a pic of my new baja that is still under construction. I just had to get it out for a little test drive to work out any bugs it might have, hahaha bugs, get it? Anyhow, it's a 75 standard beetle, the motor is an unknown, but has a lot of the right stuff in it from what I can tell. Berg oil pump, 8 pin lightened flywheel, balanced to the clutch. It sounds real camish and is pretty snappy. Needs more than the progressive 2 bbl holley though.... oh well, I had it laying around so I used it, and I'm not sure I want to bite the bullit for some more IDF's. Todd and I also made mounts for a 5.38:1 ratio bus trans and all bus cv joints. Since I like centerline wheels, I changed it to 5 hole drums in the rear with 67 5 hole front drums, with wheel studs all around. So far it seems to drive good on the road with a few rattles to work out yet. Need to turn the beam some more yet too. Usually I just cut and turn the beams. This time I installed adjusters and didn't get enough turn on the upper adjuster, so I have to redo the upper. Just about ready for paint too, luckily this was a real straight car when I started with it. The picture was taken up on a ridge in eastern washington about 4 miles from my home here.

These guys have got great bajas and really enjoy using them.
I've got to tell ya, I would love to off-road with them sometime.

Checkout their Memorial Day weekend trip.
