Here is a few pics of the baja that a friend and I built. The motor is
an 1835 with duel 40 Dels an fk87 cam 9to1 comp bug pack counter
weighted crank, 3/8 cromoly push rods, 041 heads with duel springs, 12lb
flywheel, 1700 pound KEP and a rigid disk. Trans is a small nut bus box
with the reduxs. It has a super diff and a heavy duty side cover all
the brackets to mount the trans were made by my buddy and I. I put RS
5000 shocks on the rear. Front end is 7 inches wider all the seams are
welded up on it and it's been cut and turned 1/4 inch. 700/15 on the
front and Rear has 32" Super Swampers TSL Radials. Skid plates front
and rear and a bunch more stuff.

Notice that he has got a couple of hitch hiker tagging along for the ride.
This is how you keep from getting high centered in a baja!
This is me making a nice jump. Notice the car is still swing axle.
Here's Scot doing a nice power slide

Scot did some fairly extensive rework on his roll cage, built a new front bumper, added nerf bars and gave it a new paint job.
This picture was taken at castle rock on the Verde River. This is was a great place to hang out in the hot summer. We would jump off the rock in the background into the ooohh so cooool water, nothing felt better on a 110 degree day!
Today it's massively crowded and rangers are hanging out all over the place. Don't even think about getting your tires wet, that's a major no no these days. What a drag.
Scot just wasn't happy enough with this, so he made another major mod. Check it out.

Brady's baja is a 63, 1200cc 40hp, KYB's all around, Tractor tires up front and 31" BFG Mudd-Terrain rear. And can still compeate with those 4X4's :)
This car was originally posted in february 2002. It's still here becuase there has been a few modifications
This has got a 1776 powerplant with match ported and polished heads and dual kadrons. The front balljoint suspension has been replaced with a king and link setup. A 6 inch wider beam with long travel shock towers is in the works. The rear is lifted IRS with BFG 30x9.50 all terrains. The interior is completely gutted with a full role cage and tiger belts.
George has installed the new front suspension and it looks great.

His engine developed a crack in the case, so George is currently having another one built.

Hi,
My name is Jeremy (I am 14) and these are pictures of my baja bug.
My dad,my brother and I built this bug from a stock 71 beetle that we bought for 200.
It has a full roll cage and dual bilsteins in the rear. It has 3x3 trailing arms and 3 inch travel bump stops that we fabricated. It has dirt bag limit straps on it too.we bought every thing off ebay so all together we have spent about 2000 dollars on it.

Remember Jeremy is only 14. This is one heck of a go-kart for him to drive.

I saw your car at the 2000 Phoenix bug-o-rama and your site got me real fired up, especially the Crown King trip. I had a stock baja at the time, and never got around to going. I did go up recently with my new bug, and it was a hoot! I couldnt find your site for the last year or so, I am glad I found it again. Anyhoo, on to the new car.
Specs:
It is a very fun car. I purchased it as just a body and cage and proceeded to put it together. It isnt real fast, but it has put more than one 4x4 to shame! These pics are from the the FR42 trail out by Bartlett Lake. I am going to race my car as a sportsman up in Snowflake, end of this month, and the next trail ride is Box canyon. Keep up the great work on the site- perhaps I will see you out on the trail sometime.
