
The Scottsdale Concert Band is an adult community concert band sponsored by Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale,
Arizona. Started in 1977 with a small nucleus, membership has grown to 72 auditioned musicians from all parts of the
Valley of the Sun.
Members range from college age students to senior adults. Repertoire includes marches, overtures, show tunes, solo features, big band swing and seasonal music.The band rehearses Wednesday evenings in the college band room from August through May and performs free concerts on and off campus throughout the academic year.
The band is an organizational member of the Association of Concert Bands and was the the host band for the 1996 ACB convention. In 1998 the Scottsdale Concert Band was one of only three bands in it's class to be awarded North America’s most prestigious award for adult community concert bands, the Sudler Silver Scroll Award , administered by The John Philip Sousa Foundation!
