Dr. Charles Sessions accepted the position as director of bands at Scottsdale Community College in 1973 and established a day and evening band and jazz program which thrives today. As past Chairman of the music department he directed the activities of 10 performing groups and a full transfer music curriculum that included sophisticated electronic music technology. Since 1977 he has been the director of the Scottsdale Concert Band

He holds music degrees from the University of Arizona and a Doctorate in Music Education from the University of Southern California .

In addition to his teaching and conducting duties for the college, Dr. Sessions maintains an active schedule as a professional clarinetist (Clarinet a la Swing). He is a guest conductor of bands throughout the State of Arizona and the western United States and was the co-founder of the Scottsdale Community College Summer Music Camp for junior high school students. Dr. Sessions is a past President of the Association of Concert Bands. A member of Arizona Music Educators Association, he has received the Outstanding Music Educator Award and the Hall of Fame Outstanding Music Administrator Award.
