| Welcome to my web site After many years trolling the web site mania, I am finally on line. But don't expect any wiz-bang stuff, because contrary to what many people think, I do have a life. Sorry to anyone who frequents my site looking for more code. I have been busy looking for employment and have not had much time to post any additions. Also, I had an idea for a product and made that my second priority. However, the feedback from my job search indicates that my .NET and Oracle skills need sharpening. So, I am rearranging my priorities and pushing the new product development down to third. Be my next gig I had planned to some day give up contract work and seek permanent employment, but the IT job market is so soft that I am expediting my plans. So if you are in the market for either a permanent or a contract employee, please contact me at bdick@cox.net or 401-334-4064. I have TWO resumes! My career has been equally divided between Database Administration and Application Developer. So, take a look at the one that is more appropriate for the position. Code Also, I scrounged through my PowerBuilder code and put together some examples of my work. Some of it is polished and complete, and some of it is, well...you're on your own. I recently started working through the Microsoft .NET documentation. As I am going, I am grabbing the code fragments from the documentation and making them work. I am finding some bugs in the docs here and there and I am noting them in the working code. Also, I have a simple VB.NET application that changes a user password across all machines in a workgroup. This application calls a couple of netapi.dll functions and shows how to use some interop classes. Thanks to Mark Fuller of Oracle, I have a couple nifty diagrams of the Oracle 8i and 9i database architectures. The diagrams are a great start for my Oracle page. Soon to come I have an Oracle 8i database running in my home office that is fed Internet data by a PowerBuilder Windows service. It's not a big system, but it uses some interesting technology. I'll publish the Oracle database stuff first and follow up with the PowerBuilder application later. I love to hear from you You will notice that I have counters on many of my web pages. I use these to gage where your interest lies. If you want some help with code or want to discuss other matters please contact me at bdick@cox.net. Also, I frequent the Oracle, Microsoft, and Sybase newsgroups, so you may be able to catch me there, too. Later BEDick |
