LANGUAGE- this is all about communication on the volleyball court and talking with your partner. While you can certainly play and win without communication, you will play better as a team and win more often if you communicate well with your partner. Poor communication will cost you points or missed opportunities, and that is all the difference it takes to go from winning to losing. But aside from the competitive benefits of talking with your partner, you will also have more fun when you are communicating well with your partner.

Call Shots. Your partner can't keep focused on hitting the ball and reading the defense simultaneously. After you set the ball, don't watch the set. Instead look at the opponent's defense and call a shot for your partner. Keep it clear, quick, and short: "cut!", "line!", "angle!".

Tone. Another thing to keep in mind is not just what you say, but how you say it. Being crude and loud may be great if your partner is a toughened warrior, but being positive and encouraging may be more appropriate. Use a communication style that is suitable for your partner and which will benefit you as a team.
