PARC Hiking Net Activities
Palomar Amateur Radio Club - Hiking and other outdoor activities

Return Home Page:

These web pages are maintained by Bernie - N6FN and document a selection of trips taken by the Palomar Amateur Radio Club's "Hiking Net" special interest group.  This group consists of hams (amateur radio operators) and non-hams.

This is an "unofficial" Hikers Net web page, and does not represent any official position of either the Hiking Net or the Palomar Amateur Radio Club.

The term "Hiking Net" is used very loosely.  In actual practice, in addition to local day hikes and backpacking, the group also involves itself with canoeing, kayaking, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, camping, fly-fishing, astronomy, ham radio, GPS and anything else that seems interesting.

Hiking Net hams get together every Friday evening at 9pm on PARC's local 146.730 repeater, located on Palomar Mountain in San Diego County.  Many trip ideas and experiences of recent trips and other topics are discussed.  In addition, the group makes extensive use of an email reflector hosted by Tom Lebens-KF6PAZ.  Trip plans are proposed and participants use the reflector to "sign up" for any pending trips.  There are no dues, rules or anything else involved with being a member of this group.  Its just a bunch of people having fun together.

Anyone interested in outdoor activity is welcome to join.  If you are a ham in the San Diego area, check in on our Friday evening nets.  If you are a non-ham, send me an email at the below address and I will get you signed onto the email reflector.  (Its a graphic element.)
