In my memories from my youth
I remember windmont park.
On the 4th of July
our family would embark.

Picnic basket and cooler too
we'd set up for the day.
The games that we played
till the fireworks display.

Youthful boys chasing girls
and walking around the lake.
Mouths watering as dad cooks
a big tender juicy steak.

Baseball and volley ball
being played all around.
Seemed everyone was here
from our small little town.

Yes them days of long ago
still tugs at my heart.
Where the flag was saluted
and the pledge was a part.

Prayer was a big part
of most the people there.
Fathers back from the war
and our freedom we did declare.

Yes the fireworks and picnic's
we had there at the park.
Seemed like so much fun
and they lasted way past dark.
