The bells of Saint Mary's
was ringing Christmas Day.
When Paddy came a walkin'
down the aisles with a sway.
It seems he been celebrating
the birth of the saviour child.
But when the pubs shut down
thats when old Paddy riled.
He picked up his blackthorn
and gave the keeper a lick.
Then he seen what he had done
it made him start to feel real sick.
So to church Ol' Paddy went
to offer up a prayer.
To ask for Gods forgiveness
since everything was in despair.
The people moved away
to give old Paddy room.
One would never know
how much he did consume.
For when old Paddys drunk
he's mean as he can be.
And there is not a topic
in which he won't disagree.
But on this Holy Day
Paddy felt so bad.
It was on this day one year
in which he lost his dad.
So as he sat in silence
and listened to the sermon.
He began to sob and cry
when hugged by lady McDurman.
Paddy made a vow this day
to help those in need.
To tell them of his dad
while doing a good deed.
