| The
Basilica of Enlightenment is the primary seat of learning for the Church
of the Dimorphic Elite (CODE). Study here focuses exclusively on
economic research. The goal is to understand, predict, and control
economic stability, thus controlling interest rates. When this ideal
is reached, followers believe that they will transcend mortality and
reside on an equal level with the God of Interest
Rates.
The lower, bunker-like, floor supports the main entrance as well as numerous storage areas for books, disks, tapes, and other media. These storage areas are extended in several basement levels under the sea floor. The upper dome structures are based vaguely on St Mark's Cathedral in Venice.

The
primary dome is taken up by the AquaTrack train
station and its associated computer systems. This noiseless
transport mechanism shuttles citizens to and from the Church
of St Mcleau.
The small domes situated around the upper story are study chambers where students can read materials and ponder economic truths. At the extreme left of the photo, one can see two large openings in the first story. These openings are covered with yellow gratings. The openings are used to circulate fresh water through the vast, underground rooms under the structure. |
