Power Station

This is the Aqua-Metropolis Power Station.  At its time of construction, it is the tallest building in the city.

The highest dome houses the crystal reactor.  More information on the reactor is provided below.

The octagonal portion of the building between the two domes houses various transformers.  Two emergency power drain rods extend from this region.  These rods are used in case of emergency overload to deliver excess power into the sea bed.  The orange antennas on the side deliver additional emergency discharge capacity.  If necessary, these discharge energy directly into the water.  Since the water contains salt, the power travels through the water into the sea bed.

The lower dome contains a power storage battery.  This battery stores reserve power.

Below the lower dome, the Aqua-Track rapid transit system goes directly through the structure.

On the very bottom floor, in the front, is the main entrance and lobby.

The lobby and the area between the domes are formed into an octagonal shape by using many 2x4 hinged plates.  These bind the different facets together into a fairly strong structure.

The lower floors of the building are covered with a myriad of pipes.  These pipes serve as radiators to dissipate the heat generated by power production.

This is a close-up of the reactor.  Inside the outer dome is an inner, containment dome.

The inner dome is constructed by the Paradisa corporation.  This company gained fame by building modern luxury condos.  However, the bubble shaped windows built by this company were ideal for a reactor containment vessel.  These windows ended up being stronger than anything else available on the market.

Within the inner containment dome, is the power crystal surrounded by the power extraction equipment.  The power crystal is spun by a vertically mounted micro-motor.  Fiber-optic strands are utilized to shoot high-powered lasers through the crystal.  The crystal has properties that accelerate and energize the lasers.  The lasers are caught on the opposite side and the excess power is drained into the power grid.

One might notice the workers inside the dome.  Although the power generation process is relatively safe, no Aqua-Metropolis citizens wanted to perform such boring work.  Therefore, special robots were created called "insectoids."  These robots tirelessly perform their chores in the reactor.
