LEGO City 1 |
|

LEGO City 1 is my first attempt to create a bustling city. Its encircled by a 9v train and contains a metropolitan area in front and an amusement park area in the back.
| Name | Location | Description |
| Carnival Ride | Far-Upper-Left | Barely visible on the far upper left is the dark scary ride in the amusement park. See the close-up below for a better view. |
| Castle | Far-Upper-Left | Barely visible on the top is the entrance to the castle. See the close-up below for a better view. |
| Star Wars Museum | Upper-Left | This museum includes models and figures from the movies, including episode 1. An ice speeder can be seen to the left of the museum and a pod-racer adorns the top |
| Cargo Terminal | Top | This blue, two-story building takes care of all deliveries in the city. The cargo airplane waits to the right. |
| Motorcycle Factory | Middle-Left | This yellow skyscraper is the largest industry in the city. The first floor houses the assembly line while the upper floors contain offices. |
| Fire Station | Middle | The red building to the right of the motorcycle factory is the fire station. Its fashioned in a very modern style with lots of bubbles and other clear pieces adorning the facade. |
| Train Station | Upper-Right | This blue and red structure is the oldest building in town, being constructed about 10 years ago for a Christmas display. |
| Taxi Station | Upper-Right | This yellow, two-story building is the taxi headquarters for the town. Since motor-cycles are cheap (given the local supply), the taxi company uses two-seater motorcycles as well as cars. |
| Hotel | Upper-Right | This three story blue high-rise is the local hotel. This building and red one to the left of it are built-up versions of an old set called "Main Street." |
| Car Repair Shop | Middle-Right | This red and white building is ready to service all the cars in town. |
| Police Station | Middle | In the center of the picture is the largest building in town. This is the city police department. Although there is no crime, the city had a surplus of money and labor and felt that a stern looking police tower would provide suitable deterrent for future crime. This tower was constructed primarily from two "Command Post Central #6332" sets plus some old Space Police sets I got from a neighbor. |
| Movie Theater | Middle-Left | The red building in the lower-left of the image is the movie theater. This building is constructed in an art deco style. The facade is a rectangle bisected by a tower based on the Chrysler Building in NYC. Extending out from the facade is a glass porch fashioned out of two flying saucer pieces and a red castle roof. |
| Natural History Museum | Bottom-Left | The blue and white building at the bottom of the picture is the natural history museum. The architecture is based loosely on the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. |
| Hospital | Middle | To the right of the museum is the hospital. This building is fairly drab looking in the photo. After the picture was taken, I remodeled it to add two more stories and much more interesting roof work. |
| Space Port | Middle-Right | This is the headquarters for the LEGO space program. |
| Restaurant on Boat | Bottom-Right | This is an exclusive eating spot for the wealthy members in town. |
| Aquarium | Far-Bottom-Right | This building houses a large tank filled with sea creatures. See the close-up shots below for a better view. |
The following diagram shows the layout from a top-down perspective. Below that, I've included detailed pictures and more descriptions.
