In the
summer of 2000, the LEGO City 2 Aquarium underwent a massive expansion
project. Plans called for the erection of a huge cylindrical office
tower on top of the existing aquarium. Also, builders planned to add
a myriad of small domes skirting the main tower to serve as labs.
The new additions expanded the role of the aquarium dramatically to cover
not only public entertainment, but true academic research as well.
Therefore, the building was renamed the "Marine Research
Institute."
The new building is the tallest in the city, soaring at over 16 stories high. The primary tower is also the fattest sky-scraper in town. |
