BrickTopia's new Cathedral.
Even before BrickTopia was started, plans were underway for a grand Cathedral to unify the people. A prototype building was designed on computer (see here). Although the design met with considerable fanfare, the parts for such a building were not available at that time. Luckily, through a combination of diligent collecting by citizens, BrickLink purchases, and the godsend re-introduction of the "Breezeway Cafe" set, construction of this building finally became possible. Unfortunately, by the time the parts were available, downtown BrickTopia was cluttered with endless skyscrapers. There was no suitable space to build such a large new structure. Therefore, previously empty farm land was cleared to make the new Bricktopia suburb called "Euphoria." Currently, the only building in Euphoria is the Cathedral, but more structures are planned, including a monorail station to deliver the faithful more efficiently. The style of the cathedral is a blend of Gothic, Romanesque, and modern architectural motifs. Large glass "Paradisa" panels are used throughout to give a light, airy feeling. The web of external buttressing keeps the thin, glass walls from collapsing. |

| Here, one
sees a group of the faithful exiting the church after services.
The cathedral serves the Holy Church of LEGO. This institution has evolved over time to become the leading, mainstream religion of the LEGO peoples. This religion revolves around the deifying experience of building with true LEGO. The church's main tome, the Book of LEGO warns against the 4 deadly sins: - Thou shalt not hurt another minifig nor allow another minifig to come to harm. - Thou shalt not steal LEGO from another builder. - Thou shalt not purchase or use any non-LEGO brand of building bricks. - Thou shalt not play any video games, except those games involving true LEGO bricks and minifigs. The last deadly sin was added in the early 80's but originally read "Thou shalt not play any video games as they are evil and sinful." However, this caused a quandary for the church when LEGO started producing video games. The church offered a free "upgrade" service where they would rebind every member's book of LEGO for free with a wonderful new velvet cover. After this "upgrade," some members noticed that the last deadly sin seemed to have mysteriously changed. The church denies this vehemently, but some trouble-makers have maintained that this is proof of the fallibility of the church and indication that it is not, in fact, directly associated with any sort of divine being. |

The view below shows one of the more beautiful angles of the cathedral. In this shot, one sees the graceful curves of the south side. Note the modified buttressing used at either edge to properly turn the corner.
