| This is Chateau Paradisa - The premier hotel for the rich and
famous inhabitants of Bricktopia.
The building is patterned on a Baroque style, but the architect insisted on throwing in the bulbous windows and pink accessories of the LEGO Paradisa movement. Many citizens were outraged at the resulting architecture, calling it a "crass beacon of commercialism." The architect defended the validity of the work, claiming the idea was to soften and modernize the original Baroque design. The architect won out and the structure was completed. Strangely enough, the criticism has made the building all the more popular. The hotel is booked at capacity almost all the time. The second floor bar is the place to be seen and see others. In the summer of 2001, the chateau was significantly enhanced, providing three extra floors and a style more reminiscent of many 18th century buildings in Amsterdam. The roof was finished off with a series of gables, making the building one of the highest in Bricktopia. More color was also added, bringing additional criticism and its associated popularity. |

Notice the pink, circular staircase in the background. This leads up
to the rooms on the third floor. Here a waiter serves a female guest
her drink.
Below the bar, one can see the main entrance. Two dragon heads overlook the front to ward off evil spirits. |

| In this view, one can see the monorail track protruding from
the right side of the building.
The chosen lot was ideal for its proximity to the center of town. Unfortunately, one corner of the lot was taken up by monorail track. To get around this, the building was designed to allow the monorail to pass through it on one corner. The second floor bar is actually only half the depth of the building to allow sufficient clearance for the monorail. This odd feature has made the bar even more popular as people in the bar enjoy watching the monorail go through the building. On the second to highest floor of the building, one can see how the roofline curves in. On the side of the building, are located sky-lights (framed by white arches). These sky-lights are created from massive 6x6x9 curved clear panels manufactured by the Breezeway company. The panels are mounted upside down and admit light from above and from the side. |
