BrickTopia Public Library

This is the BrickTopia Public Library.

It was created to further inspire higher learning in the city.

Although currently housing only a limited collection, it has become wildly popular as the place for young intellectuals to hang out (the Museum of Natural History now being passé).

This shot shows a 3/4 view of the building.

The gray mesh on the bottom left of the structure serves as an air intake for the ventilation system.

The curved bottom of the red window molding in the center of the building is actually two small 1/2 arches mounted upside down.

This is a close-up of the door way.

Architecturally, the building follows the fantasy Baroque style of most of the other structures in BrickTopia.

Several new architectural techniques are used.

The curved walls around the door are made from a number of inverse 1/2 arches mounted vertically.

The steeply sloped red supports under the 2nd floor balconies are castle tops turned upside down.  These are actually not attached in any location.  Yet they stay firmly in place.  They are held by pressure from the white molding below, and from the balcony on the top. Bricks on the inside of these structures keep them from moving side-to-side and away from the building.

The mesh window screens are made from vertically mounted 1x4x2 fence pieces.
