A perfect fit for the theme of the
BrickTopia itself is a nuclear-free zone, and nuclear weapons are completely banned. However, given the technical expertise available in BrickTopia and the high value of nuclear weapons in third world countries, the idea of making such weapons for profit is an idea who's time has come. Weapons from the "Neighborhood" factory are manufactured with a number of safe-guards to prevent inappropriate use: - No weapon will detonate within 100 miles of BrickTopia. - No weapon will detonate at an altitude of less than 50 miles. This prevents direct damage to buildings and people, but produces an EMP (Electro-magnetic pulse) that is devastating to an enemy’s electronic systems, wreaking economic and military havoc. - A weapon can be disabled remotely if the factory decides that the weapon is not being used appropriately, or if the customer's credit goes bad. Each warhead is packaged in a deluxe missile package and shipped off to a lucky, third-world buyer. Steep discounts are often provided to the initial buyers in a region. Once one country has such a weapon, its neighbor's line up for parity. Of course, by then the price has gone up and no discounts are available. Discounts are again available when all countries in a region have an equal number of warheads. One buyer decides to "upgrade," and the rest must follow, with absolutely no discounts. An arms race is good for business! The company name "Neighborhood" comes from the desire to unite neighbors through nuclear deterrent. Surprisingly enough, this has actually occurred. Several third world customers, who used to be in constant conflict with each other, have actually stopped attacks for fear of nuclear retribution by the neighbor. What a wonderful nuclear "neighborhood!" |

Here, one can see more details of the building in this photograph taken prior to placement of the building into its final location. At the bottom left is the reactor where plutonium is enriched to a point that it is suitable for use in implosion-based weapons. Most of the main tower is used as a missile assembly area, while the top "dome" is used to track all missiles sold to ensure that they are being deployed according to contracts. Architecturally, the building is very industrial looking, without belonging to any particular architectural movement. It is made up of alternating planes and large-radius curves. A green-tinted glass is used to reduce visibility (for security reasons). Additionally, this glass includes an internal metal mesh that helps guard against radiation leakage. On the lower-right is the entry way. Large metal balls adorn the top of the entry. These balls act as holding
tanks for fire suppression chemicals. In an emergency, the balls can be
exploded, thus flooding the complex with fire-suppressive foam. |

However, Plasticia recently purchased a nuclear missile and has threatened to use it against the detested Brickuba. Not wanting to be upstaged by its smaller neighbor, Brickuba has decided it must pay the exorbitant price for its own missile. Adolpho is accosted by a first-level security officer. After bribing the officer (the only way to pass), Adolpho moves towards the building entrance, and one step closer to his beloved "missile of freedom." |

As Adolpho strolls down the remainder of the entryway, he comes across the imposing doors to the facility. But wait, someone seems to have already entered the building. Who could that be (read the next page to find out)?
