DeathZone Skate Park - Main Floor Interior

The party starts on the main floor!

In the rear center of this photo, one can see an eager patron (with long black hair) entering from the elevator.

This silly visitor brought his skate helmet with him (the black, round object in his hand).  The bouncer at the entrance has just noticed this and is in the process of confiscating the helmet.  Safety equipment is not allowed at DeathZone.

Such equipment restricts movement and hides cool hair-do's, and is therefore banned.

Here, one sees DeathZone's beginner course, entitled "Groovy."

This course is similar to the standard half-tube found in many skate parks.  However, this one is lined with numerous deep grooves.

The skateboarder must keep the wheels on the raised portions between the grooves.  Failure to do this typically results in the skateboard stopping abruptly and flipping itself, and the rider up in the air.

When the rider comes back down, he/she often lands on a sharp object such as a fence or part of the tube, causing some minor broken bones, and occasionally a few deep gashes in the extremities.

Nobody has yet died on "Groovy," which is why it is considered the "beginner" course.

The intermediate course at DeathZone is a trick course called "Spike It Dude!"

This course involves a number of raised platforms, on which the visitor must balance.

In between the platforms are seas of metal spikes.

To finish the course, the athlete must traverse down the first platform, jump to the second (over several spikes), and then finish off at the end of the second platform.

To add to the appeal, the skeletal remnants of unsuccessful riders are left where they fell.

The advanced course is entitled "Fire and Ice."

Here, the snowboarder plummets down a steep, icy slope and then off a small jump over a hot lava pit, to the small precipice beyond.

Although the lava disintegrates most losers, a few pieces remain propped up on small rocks in the crater.

In front of "Fire and Ice" is the bar.  Here, women like to congregate to watch the men demonstrate their masculine bravery.

Occasionally, extra excitement is afforded when lava unexpectedly splashes from "Fire and Ice" due to an incompetent snowboarder, forcing bar-hoppers to scurry for cover, or risk permanent disfigurement.

There is always plenty of action at DeathZone!
