May 1 immigrant boycott aims to "close" US cities - Yahoo! News

Alrighty then. I've been pretty quiet about this whole thing but this "immigrant boycott" is taking it too far. I understand that this is supposedly the great Melting Pot and all that, but since when do FOREIGN NATIONALS get to decide who is naturalized and who is not? I also understand that if we're perfectly honest, there are a lot of important jobs in this nation that literally would not get done were it not for the hard, tireless and often thankless work of these very same people. Furthermore, I certainly understand that a lot of these jobs are being done by these immigrants because employable American citizens are either too proud or too lazy to do them. If you have convinced yourself otherwise, you're lying to yourself. And yes, I did say important jobs--remember the trash strikes in NYC back in the 80's? No one ever thinks the trash man is important until they are neck-deep in their own stinking, rotting filth. I know this is a bitter pill for some people to swallow, but until you are willing to push a mower 15 hours a day for $7.50 an hour, or even less, DO NOT tell me that some Mexican has your job. Same thing goes for hotel work, migrant farmers or restaurants.

All that said, if you are an illegal alien and INS catches you, tough cookies. You're going back to your home town and we'll see you next week. We all know that's how it goes. But what these people are planning is, in my not-so-PC-opinion, criminal. Think about it this way: these people are openly planning to shut down many major cities across the US. If we put this in net terms we can all understand, it would essentially be a denial of service attack on the largest scale. Last time I checked, people still
go to jail for this. Just because there are lots of protestors and it is a popular cause (among lib'rals) does not make it any less illegal. If we wanted to take that type of logic to the extreme, we could just as easily say that these immigrants wanted to beat a man to death with migrant-harvested vegetables and then drag him through town with ropes made from braided hotel sheets in each city as a symbol of compensation for years of unfair treatment towards migrant workers. Would you be so quick to jump on the bandwagon then? Probably not. And obviously no one is talking about that kind of treatment. Well, no one but this guy, but that's another post.

So in the end, I'm kind of in favor of this work-for-citizenship thing or whatever they're calling it. BUT I don't think anyone should be 'grandfathered' in because that kind of idea is essentially flawed. Somewhere they were talking about anyone who'd been working here for 5 years or more would automatically be granted citizenship. Well first off, how do you prove they've been here for 5 years. Now this may come as a shock to some of you, but a lot of these guys and gals use fake names and credentials! And if I was doing what they are I just might do the same but, again, that's a different post. Let's say they manage to produce documents that indicate they have indeed been employed with company X for 7 years. Well company X AND the illegal have both been breaking the law for 7 years! What kind of crap is that? My suggestion is that they start right now. No, wait...right now. No, no, not yet....NOW! Sign up for the program, get your "paperz, pleaze" and start your working. And by the way, all those social security wages taken out of your check--those go to AMERICAN CITIZENS until your 5 years are up. Once your 5 years are up, you show Uncle Sugar your paperz, he runs a check to see if you've been arrested for any felonies, you demonstrate a proper understanding of English, BOTH WRITTEN AND ORAL, you swear your oath of allegiance to these United States of America and prest-o, change-o! Bob's your uncle and you're in. Simple as that.

Don't like my plan? Move to another country!

BBC NEWS Middle East Tel Aviv suicide bomb kills nine

I'm pretty sure we can expect more of this type of thing. Can you believe they pulled this during the Passover?

Maybe Israel should drop a daisy cutter on Hamas HQ during Ramadan and see how well that sits with the international community. Righ now, aside from the US, it seems that no one else really cares that Palestine has elected a terrorist regime as their new leadership.

Oh, that's hilarious.

I got to work today and my chair was turned at a bit of an odd angle. If it hadn't been, I probably woudn't have noticed that someone had placed a feminine hygiene product in the pocket of my old man sweater. I wonder how long that's been there?

Things that make me go hmmmmmmmmm.

It just occured to me (during a conversation) that when Aimee and I met, I was making about $5/hour. Technically, I was unemployed when we met the very first time, but when we started dating, I was making $5/hour and I wasn't going to get my $.50 raise because I had been a bad employee.

My how things have progressed!

BlingBling. No, wait...I meant ICE. Yeah, that's it, ICE!

Aw Yeah!

Today makes 10. 10 years of happy, good wedded times. And I turned 36 yesterday. All in all, a good week.

Since I haven't seen fit to show up at work this week or even make an effort at posting, I wanted to take just as second to thank all of you who've wished us a happy anniversary, a happy birthday, or taken the time to vote for my submission on the 92 contest. I especially want to thank those of you who were kind enough to sign the George Bushy cards! Those were hilarious and I laughed out loud at the Levitra card. Good times. And thanks go to Paul and Kim for the anniversary card and Paul for bringing them all by the 'stead.

Oh yes, for those of you who knew, the cat is officially out of the bag. I couldn't wait any longer so at exactly 2 minutes after midnight, I gave Aimee her necklace. For those of you who didn't know, here's the short version. I decided Aimee needed a little something special for putting up with my brand of crazy for the last 10 years, so rather than buying that new .45 or even parts for that new .45 mentioned earlier, I got her a sweet diamond circle pendant. To be truthful, I actually had Moms and her beau help me out on this one. They bought it for me at the very end of February from the internet and verified that it was in fact quality goods--Moms knows her jewelry. Yes, kiddies, that whole post about the .45 was a clever ruse to throw off any suspicion that may have arisen. It worked like a champ. Aimee had no idea it had been in my man-bag for the last 3 or 4 weeks and the money--supposedly for a new .45--had been gone since the day of the Sooner gun show when it was mailed to Mom. All the subterfuge and misdirection was worth it to be able to make sure that she has a milestone gift that she will still have when we are celebrating 25 years.

So to recap: thank you all and I love my wife. She is the greatest and I look forward to another 10 sweet years with her by my side.
