My aching head.
I was looking forward to going off on the "I was with Jonbenet when she died" nutbag and the FBI polygamist guy, but my head is splitting and it won't let up. Don't worry, they'll still be talking about both of them tomrrow!

No More Cruise Control?
Paramount ends production deal with Cruise: WSJ - Yahoo! News
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Say it isn't so! How will I find the strength to go on? How will I know which movies to see? How could this have happened?
That is it! I am going on a blog-strike until this is sorted. Paramount, please e-mail me--we CAN work this out.

Alright, so I lied.
I didn't go make a meatloaf sammich. Instead, I fried up some turkey breakfast sausage, scrambled some egg beaters, made some hashed potatos brown, baked buttermilk biscuits with SOY milk made sour by the addition of cider vinegar (seriously, it's good) brewed some fresh coffee and whisked up some cream gravy. And it was freakin' goooooooood. I've been cravin some serious breakfast for some time now, and I figured I have two options: make it myself and get it right the first time or pay 3 times as much for some dork to hose it up so badly that it can't even be called breakfast. AND...we have left over bisquits and sausage so you know what's for dinner tomorrow night!
In movie news, we just finished House of Flying Daggers and you know what? It was good too. I'm not sure if they filmed the entire thing in China or not (imdb doesn't specify) but every single outside shot is, and I don't say this lightly or often, stunningly beautiful. There is not another way to put it.
In any event, that's all I've got for tonight. Nothing is going to ruin my breakfast-for-dinner induced good vibes, so I'm not even going to think about child murderers, mideast conflicts or mid-term elections. Oh wait, I think I just did.

That took a while..
I've been sitting here for the last 4 hours or so getting all of the assorted pic's of guns I had scattered across three different servers consolidited into one nice, easy to find page. I even typed up a nice little description for each one.
I used to be a bit leary of posting my gun collection on-line for fear someone would get the bright idea of stealing them. But I figure anyone reading this site (and thereby seeing said guns) is probably also aware that there is an extreme right-wing radical Republican who carries on a daily basis behind all those shootin' irons, and that ought to be enough to keep out all but the most energetic and determined of stoopids.
Anyway in case your curious, here's the link. Now I'm off to fix a meatloaf sammich.

There's something strange afoot at the Circle K
I don't know about you guys, but there is something off about this Mark Karr guy. None of his story seems (at least in my summation) to fit and the timing is extremely suspect. I get the vibe that his confession is to save himself a lot of seriously hard time in a Bangkok prison. I tell you what, I've stayed in hotels in Thailand, and I would probably confess to shooting JFK if I thought I was headed for one of their hoosgows. Not to say that they're all bad, mind you, but keep in mind that over there, they treat criminals like criminals. None of this pansy, hippy, touchy-feely, let's-love-them-'til-they're-better coddling we've adopted over here. No sir, you mess up over there (and in most countries overseas to be honest) and you will get exactly what you deserve and probably a bit more for good measure. I still remember, back in tha day, pulling in to Pattaya Beach, Thailand and one of the locals telling us that we'd missed a public caning by about a week. Then there was our cab driver in Dubai, UAE who was kind enough to share with us that we'd missed a be"handing" by less than 5 days, all the while with a giant grin on his face as if to say "I know you Americans love your violence--you missed a good one!"
I will openly admit to thinking since day one that I thought her parents were somehow involved in, if not actually responsible for, that poor kid's death. Now for this guy to conveniently pop up ten years later...I'm not buying it. I can honestly say that I'm very curious to see how this one pans out.

Ho Hum
I decided I should post something after receiving an email from The Kelly today asking if I'm still alive, so I'll tell you what I told him--paraphrasing, of course.
Right now, I'm just not feeling the blog. I see all this stuff on the news and have all these thoughts but when I actually sit down at the computer all I really want to do is check the email, peruse the bb's (my new favorite time wasters) and look at pictures of shiny guns. I've decided I'm selling one gun and will then buy two new (to me) shootin' irons once the check clears. To this end, I've been weighing my options very carefully, and that takes time. Time and lots of pictures of pictures of shiny guns.
It would seem I can't be bothered lately to either post or even read blogs. It's almost guaranteed that if article or post doesn't have pictures of shiny things (but not necessarily jangly) or come in about 4 sentences or less, I just don't have time for it. Which is bad. Especially when there is so much thought-inspiring material out there right now. I guess another part of the "problem" is that I've already decided how I feel about most of this news we're getting out of the middle east, and I'm not changing my mind, so what's the point?
For what it's worth, I did try to post something last week, but the stupid &$*#@ blogger client absolutely would NOT upload the pic. Needless to say, I became quite disgusted and ignored it altogether for about a week. In fact, I can't even remember what picture I was trying to post.
To wrap things up for the night, I'll share with you that we finally watched Howl's Moving Castle last weekend and, as expected, it was good. I dig me some o' dat anime and Miyazaki makes the best. Now if it had been anything other than good would've been surprising.

Pioneering Master Diver Carl Brashear Laid to Rest
Pioneering Master Diver Carl Brashear Laid to Rest
You may remember that this is the sailor whose life story was told in the movie "Men of Honor" with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robert DeNiro. Or maybe you don't. The movie was quite good, but I'm sure this man was better than the movie. May he rest in peace.
