Morning Classes
Coming in September!
The KW adult Sunday classes restart on September 7 and will once again make your choices difficult
this fall. Four great choices are available, each one an opportunity to receive
some truth, think, laugh, share your thoughts, and grow with friends.
The Unbinding Your Heart class asks for a sustained 7-week
commitment of participation. The other classes are open for drop-in as well as
sustained participation.
“Unbinding
Your Heart: Forty Days of Prayer and Faith Sharing” – 7 weeks – led by Bruce
Knight + Michael Condrey
v What does honest, faithful faith-sharing look like in the
21st Century?
v Do some of the stereotypes turn you off?
v What are the ingredients that have enabled some average
Jane and Joe churches to find real life and extend real life to those around
them?
v Come share in a study that the KirkWood Session has
recently completed.
This class will be followed by:
“The
Kingdom Equation: A Fresh Look at the Parables of Jesus” – 9 lessons -- led by Dick Knowles
v What was this “kingdom” stuff in Jesus’ parables all about?
“God
Views: See Clearly the One Who Loves You Most” – dramatic comedy
video with discussion – ~12 weeks – led by Susan and Rich Egyud
v This study helps us examine our views of God.
v When we hold some of our views up in the light they can
look pretty hilarious.
v This study mixes scripture, reflection, humorous dramatic
video, and discussion to help us grow beyond some mistaken views of God, so see
the Father of Jesus as the one who loves you most.
“Celebration
of Discipline: The Path to Spiritual Growth” – multi-media class on
the classic spiritual disciplines – 15 weeks
– led by Charlie Reece & Jim Mershon
v When we taste and see that the Lord is good, a hunger
arises that wants to deepen and widen our spiritual life in Him. This hunger
runs smack into our weakness, tendency to distraction, and inability to do much
to really change how we find ourselves.
v The long and wide testimony of those who have gone before
us is that, as with an athlete training for an event, directed discipline is an
essential part of reaching the goal.
v This class will introduce and sample the classic Christian
spiritual disciplines.
v If God is calling you to get serious and put down some
roots, perhaps you can start here.
1 Corinthians – focused Bible study –ongoing -- led by Jim Birch
v This class continues to walk carefully and slowly through one book of the Bible at a time, carefully considering the background setting and the also implications from the text for us today.
