This image was shot on Bill Kurtis's Red Buffalo Ranch near Sedan, KS. He arranged for several photographers to be on hand for the annual burning of the prairie. Shortly after the fire was started a terrific rain storm started and quenched the flames. Red Buffalo is the translation of the Indian word that means prairie fire.
