This is a good place to start--Canyon Sin Nombre as seen from the "Badlands Overlook". The entrance is on the right, just follow the wash. But first you need to get down the hill. You can do that by following the road (road?) from the left, thru the wash (left to right) and into the canyon. Then you are in for 7 or 8 miles of bumpy, dusty fun. Don't even think of calling the Auto Club if you have a flat or some other automotive misfortune. By the way, Canyon Sin Nombre means Canyon Without a Name. Wonder why they named it that?
This canyon is full is steep walls, side canyons, mud hills, cactus, varmints (four footed, two footed, and no footed), more cactus, and occasionally water.
But, if you see water, or smell water, or hear water, run like hell. Water is not a good thing in a canyon. Even if you are dying of thirst, water is not good. The only good thing it does is get you and everything else to the other end of the canyon very fast.
