PURPOSE

BIOMIMETICA is a consultation firm that provides guidance and expertise on biological research covering multiple disciplines.  BIOMIMETICA conducts research in the fields of physiology, ecology, bioacoustics, behavior and bio-inspired computational sciences.  BIOMIMETICA specializes, but is not limited to, the study of marine mammal systems and has a history of research involving cetaceans (dolphins, porpoises, baleen whales) and pinnipeds (seals and sea lions).

 

HISTORY

BIOMIMETICA was created by Dr. Dorian Houser to utilize research opportunities that may not be available through academic or government means alone.  The company is relatively young, having started in 2000, but has established itself as a useful contributor to research in government, academic and private sectors.  Dr. Dorian Houser has conducted research under the sponsorship of the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and the United States Navy Marine Mammal Program (NMMP).

 

WORK SOLICITATIONS

Work conducted by BIOMIMETICA is supported through grants and contracts. Requests for assistance from BIOMIMETICA in areas of research or environmental compliance should be directed to Dr. Dorian Houser at biomimetica@cox.net.
