Dear Parents and Teachers,
It is with great pleasure that I accept the nomination to be
your 2008-2009 PTA President. I am excited to see what we
can accomplish together during my last year as a parent at
Turtle Rock Elementary School.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself for those who do not
know me. I have been volunteering in my children’s classrooms
and in different areas including the Art Masters’
Program since 1991 … consecutively!! I have three children:
Sara Elizabeth (graduating from UCSD this June),
Cory Benjamin (home after completing his first year of college
at Belmont University in Nashville, TN), and Jacob
Reed (soon-to-be 6th grader).
Most recently, I have served Turtle Rock as our Legislative
Action Representative for the last two years. This includes
attending district as well as PTA meetings and has culminated
in my participation in “Sacramento Safari” each year.
My husband, Tim, and I moved to Orange County in 1988 to
accept positions at the University of California, (UC) Irvine.
My professional activities focus on children with behavioral
and learning difficulties. I currently am Clinical Professor of
Pediatrics at the UC Irvine Child Development Center. In
my “spare time” I teach 2nd and 3rd graders on Sunday
mornings, attend monthly book club meetings, and cheer on
Jacob’s baseball team. I look forward to meeting new parents
and working as a team to make next year fun and productive
for our children and Turtle Rock Elementary School.
