The main goal of the CD is to give some exposure to bands in Northeastern Oklahoma and also to generate a little bit of funds for the Blues Society of Tulsa. (all proceeds will go towards the various functions of the BST). The main requirement was that it must have been original material (which somewhat limited us). Because there really are very few "traditional" blues bands in the Tulsa Area it became more of a 21st Century Tulsa Sound type of thing without getting too far off the Blues genre." Look for Volume Two sometime in 2010! Besides our regional musicians, which we feel are some of the best in the industry, some special guests noted on the songs on this CD are Ray Bonneville on Harmonica on Little Joe McLerran's Month of Sundays, Malford Milligan (of 80's Storyville fame... think "Good Day For The Blues & Don't Make Me Cry") on Vocals with Jeff Parker on My Heart Is On Fire, David Teegarden on Drums (Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band and Teegarden & Van Winkle and JJ Cale's recent Road To Escondido) and Casey Van Beek on Bass (The Tractors) on Steve Pryor's Runaway Lullaby and Scott Ellison's Keys To My Heart (which also includes Dick Sims from Eric Clapton's 70's Tulsa band), and on Dustin Pittsley's In The Morning is Corey Mauser on Clavinet & Hammond B3 (Big Head Todd & The Monsters... you've heard them on the Nissan commercials with their remake of John Lee Hooker's Boom Boom)
Cindy Cain Wrote: Up & Down My Thighs Included on Blue Society Compilation Disc The Blues Society of Tulsa just released its first compilation disc - Green Country Okies . . . and one damned Englishman. My original song, Up and Down My Thighs (from my disc, In Your Impala) is one of 18 tracks. The disc features a boatload of local and regional blues artists including Jennifer Marriott, Wanda Watson, Steve Pryor, Dustin Pittsley, Scott Ellison and Little Joe McLerran.
