Witness 200 years of history beginning in 1806 when
Burrillville became a town. Learn about an early tax revolt and
how the town was named. You will travel to all of Burrillville's
early school districts to learn what life was like for students and
teachers in the old schoolhouses. Through written histories and
personal diaries, you will learn about farm life in the late 1880s and
how our ancestors churned butter, cut ice, raised cows and harvested
timber. You will also hear about the construction of a new
church. You will visit some of the old businesses to understand
how people made a living over 100 years ago and also visit places where
people spent leisure time to have fun. And finally, you will
witness how Burrillville celebrated major events in the past and how it
has celebrated its Bicentennial in 2006.
