Moses and Bethiah Taft house         White Mill Community Park
The Moses Taft house is a post and beam house built around 1786.  Moses was a farmer and built the house on land he received from his grandfather.  This historic house has now been beautifully restored by Dale and Linda Straube.

The White Mill Community Park was once the site of the White Mill owned by William Prendergast.  The mill produced some of the finest worsteds in the U.S but closed in 1956 when it could not compete with Japanese imports.  It burned in 1969.

Originally Moses Taft owned a saw mill where the White Mill Park is.  Major Arnold Hunt wanted the water rights that belonged to Moses to build a shingle mill.  He invited Moses to a turkey dinner (and they also had liquor).  Before the night was over Moses had signed away all of his water rights and it wasn't until he woke up the next morning, he realized he had been tricked.  After that, the area became known as Turkeyville.
