The Anchor Mill complex was located in Herald Square.  This mill site began as a scythe factory and general blacksmithing in the early part of the 1800's.  In 1844 Mr. Fisk began manufacturing here.  Later it was called Sheffield Worsted Mills and then most recently the Anchor Mill.  There is a gas station and shopping plaza located there now (where the State Credit Union office is located).
