February proved to be another exciting month for the Dreamland Bocce Ball Club. On February 2002 a Dreamland Venture Out Mixer was held at our courts just west of Farnsworth Hall.. Members of the Venture Out Bocce Ball Club joined members from the Dreamland Bocce Ball Club to form randomly selected eight teams of players. Referees were supplied by our club. Two games were played alternating ends after each game. Participating from Dreamland were Bill Kline, Laviere and Don Johnson, Jane Shelley, Ernie and Muriel Fitch, Pat and Al Sagstetter, Miriam and Bill Jansen, Ev Sandell, Eleanor and Luther Ness, Herb and Janet Marshall, and Leroy Haertel. Herb Ashcroft, Jerry Shelley, Dan Eberle and Gene Meade were the referees. A great coffee and dessert snack was served by Eleanor Ness, Pat Sagstetter, Cyrene Eberle, Jane Shelley, Muriel Fitch and Miriam Jansen. Everyone had a great time and the Venture Out players were very impressed with our courts and our generous hospitality. Everyone agreed to do this again next year.

Even though the weather was cool and the skies cloudy
the competition was at a high level.

Everyone who participated had a great time
The Venture Out president suggested we consider a couple of our teams participating in their league play next year. Their league play extends for only 10 weeks commencing in January and finishing in early March. The invitation sounds interesting and exciting, we will review this with our members and get back to them.
It was decided by members of the club to individually purchase tee shirts with the words "Dreamland Villa Bocce Ball" embroidered on them for anyone who wished to purchase them. The specially purchased shirts are expected to be available by the end of Feb.
Sunland Village East Bocce Ball Club has contacted our club regarding our participation in their annual spring tournament which is conducted each year toward the end of March. Typically participants come from Dreamland Villa, Sun Lakes, Venture Out, Las Palmas and Sunland Village East communities. This tournament has become the high point of the season for the East Valley bocce ball clubs.
