This is Larry standing behind a red Pantera.  He likes to say the Pantera is the "Poor Man's Ferrari"  That may be, but even a different white Pantera we saw there was going for $36,000.  And that was an "AWESOME" deal.  So the poor man ain't too poor.  :)

It is a great looking car though and if I had $40g to spare I'd be cruisin' 'round in my new Pantera right now.

Hee hee.

This one didn't race, it was just on display with the rest of the club cars.

The Poor Man's Ferrari.

Living a Dream!

This car was raced by Tom Malloy in the Group 7 1966-1972 Can-Am & FIA Sports Cars race.  It is a 1969 Lola T-70 Mk3B.

This picture was taken near the end of the day as we walked through the pits.  We talked to Tom and he said he was "Living a Dream" which is why his car is painted with the LAD.

Cool, eh?

Here I am with one of my favorite cars.  It is a 1917 Hall Scott.  I can't really explain why, it just seemed so out of place next to all of the other cars racing.  Yeah, that's right.  This is one of the cars from the Group 1 Pre-1941 Sports & Racing Cars race.  It was the oldest car on the track and was driven by Dick DeLuna.

The 4-cylinder aircraft engine developed 110 hp at 1300 rpm with 428 lbs of torque (coincidentally the same torque as a Dodge Viper!).  The Hall-Scott was to have a top speed of close to 100 mph.

My favorite!

Pretty Brass.

I loved how Old Fashioned this car is.  Check out the brass instrumentation, the roping around the steering wheel, and in the picture above you can see all the leather straps that hold various parts together.  It's so Jules Vern!  :)
