Have any comments to share with your classmates regarding your days at Boylan HS or what you have been doing the past 30 years?

Post them here!

I hope that many of you can make it to our reunion this year!!  Giovanni's has great food and it will be fun to catch up and visit with everyone. For me, it seems nearly impossible that it's been 30 years already...how did that happen?  Please take advantage of this public forum to share your greetings with our classmates.

On a personal note, I have been married for four years.  We were recently licensed as foster parents, and are looking forward to our first placement. I work part-time in community health and at public relations events for a Catholic hospital in Mission Viejo, CA.  For some unexplained reason, I seem to have a desire to get a college degree every decade...and I am now going to school part-time to get my RN."  Hope you are all enjoying a happy and healthy Fall!!

Hi everyone, hope your summer was fun-filled!  I am still teaching at St. Catherine of Alexandria Elementary School in Oak Lawn. I teach 6th grade Math and Science and love it. My husband, Bob is a pipe fitter.  I have 3 children, Tim who is 24, lives at home, and works in Naperville as an engineer; Tina who is a senior at Eastern University and Katie who is a junior at Purdue University.  My house is sooo quiet now that the girls have left for college!  No
complaints though, quiet is nice!

Hi Everyone! I am your website helper and I look forward to hearing from all of you and posting your email address and photos so that we can all refresh our friendships. You can send your information to Mary Leaver or direct to me and I will upload it to share with everyone.

My husband and I live in Phoenix, AZ.  We own a Commissioning Firm in Phoenix and commission buildings across the Southwest, including Green Buildings. I will take our summer temperature of 120° any day over the the -30° in Rockford in January. We have traveled the world from Australia to New Zealand, Ireland, France, England, Canada, Spain, France, Italy and Croatia. Bahamas, Germany (and to Berlin too), the Baltic and Russia and loved every minute of it.

Hello to the class of 1973, since I will not be attending the class reunion.  My life has been very filling since high school.  I went to college and became a R.N. and finished my bachelors degree in HCA, in 1998 from St Leo University, St Leo Florida. I have worked in the nursing field for 24 yrs. Currently I work on the cardiac unit. I married Larry Haney (Harlem1970) in 1975. He works in Fire Dept. Administration Business Office.

We have 2 sons Dave(27) who graduated from UF/business and Tom(25) who graduated UCF/computer engineer.  Both live close to us and we look forward to grandchildren. We are so proud of our sons. They are precious.  My daughter-in -law Renee is finishing her degree in dental hygiene in Gainesville in Dec. 2003.

My nursing career has been very rewarding, and challenging.  Larry and I enjoy gardening, home repairs, trips to the ocean, and nature trips.  We are communion ministers at our church, and have taught Active Parenting Classes/youth ministry/CCD.

We visit my family/Larry's brother yearly in Rockford.  Things have really changed in my family with the early death of my two sisters Pat (2000) and Rosie (2002) and our parents passing.  Ones priorities become clear after such life changing events.  My nephew Frank Haney coached for Boylan and is now at Harlem.  My sister-in-law Yvonne Fritz-Smith (East1971) taught tennis for a year at Boylan.  She is an x-ray technician also. My numerous nieces and nephews are all doing well in Rockford.

I would love to hear from you ...I pray your lives are blessed and full of love.

Not sure if I will make reunion or not.   Unbelievable that it has been thirty years but what a wonderful thirty it has been.  I am married to a wonderful man, Robb, and have three children, a senior in high school, an eighth grader and a first grader whom we adopted from China.  We have been married for twenty five years and I have retired recently after working full-time in the financial/investment field for twenty three years.  I have a Masters degree in Finance (I always loved math!) and while I love the financial field and really loved my career I am really enjoying some personal time, more time with my children at this point in my life.   My husband and I travel a lot, taking trips to Beijing, China, Shannon, Ireland, two to Mexico recently just to name a few....Seems like we are always going someplace.  Our boys play lots of baseball and other sports. We also love golf, snow skiing, gardening, traveling, the boys love to hunt, fish, etc....I work out with weights, swim and walk to keep in good shape which is very important to me...My mother still lives in Rockford although my dad passed away just this past year after a long stint in St. Anthony's hospital.  I now get to Rockford more often than I did in the past (three to four times per year.)  to help my mother with things. I always think I might run into someone I know there but not sure I would recognize anyone...I have very fond memories of Boylan and all of my experiences there...We live in St. Louis and love it here but plan to make a permanent home in Colorado in the mountains when our middle child graduates from high school...so you will find me there at that time.!!!  Take care everyone and enjoy the reunion if I do not see you there!!!   Love, Laura Fraley (Barber)  Email: llfral@aol.com

Not much to report-we are moving mid-October. Looking forward to our new home! I have never been blessed with children, so I just had my dogs to take care of and watch over.  Our pet at this moment is our Samoyed.  Her name is "Miss Daisy."  She was a stray that wandered in to our yard last 9/11/02 and decided to "adopt us."  We believe she was sent to us by "Chesterfield" our Golden Retriever of 9 1/2 years, which we had put to sleep 5 days prior to her arrival.  Sometimes you just don't question things and just carry on.  My hobby is working out and I work as a customer service rep at Rock Valley Oil and Chemical.  I happily married to my husband Ritchie (Rich) for the past 9 years. Good memory: Ring day, junior year. Worst memory: Geometry class with Sr. Germaine during Sophomore year.  I skipped class and got caught. Sad memory: the passing of Ed Zielinski who I had known for many years prior.

I'm not sure if I will be able to attend the reunion, but I'm still working on it.  I don't know if there is any information on me, so I thought I would send a little note: I am married to Ken Giesler and I am the Executive Assistant to the Chief Nurse Executive at Rockford Health System/Rockford Memorial Hospital. My husband Ken is the Golf Course Superintendent at Sandy Hollow Golf Course. We have 2 children; one boy, one girl  - Michael is 20 and attended Boylan High School; Morgan is 16 and currently is a junior at Boylan. My hobbies:  reading, crafts, fishing, golfing, bowling, and just plain relaxing. I send my best to everyone in the graduating class of 1973; it's hard to believe 30 years has passed, but my children keep reminding me that it has!!! Email: dgiesler@rhsnet.org

If someone would have told me 30 years ago that I would be able to type into a 'box' (computer), and communicate with all of my classmates, I would have said not only is that impossible, but that he/she was watching too much of Kubrick's (1968) '2001 Space Odyssey'.  Although I am unable to be at this reunion, sat.nov. the 22nd,,(i was at the last 2 we had) I wish to all of my classmates a hearty hello, many well-wishes, and do well always. thanks, Frank Nicolosi

Hi Classmates of '73!  I had planned on attending the reunion, it would of been the 1st for Me, but, bad weather out here in Nebraska at that last minute changed my plans. When I hear bad weather out here, I stay put, Or Maybe Old AGE (47 still)!!! Anyway, I ran away from Rockford at age 26, 21 yrs ago, and headed West instead of East, or I made a Wrong turn and Here Is where I am!! Called home the next day after moving here, and Said, "Dad, I live in Grand Island, Nebraska", he said, "Deborah, call us back when you get Brains, and don't take the End of the Trains" The caboose's end!! Well, Gang, I never called HOME! not, I did, a while later.  Some of you know when we were having our 5 yr reunion I was marrying John Olmstead that Night.  John and I divorced  about 11 months after that and remained friends and dated still trying to work things out. Even got re-engaged a couple of yrs later.  Well, it did not work out and I wish him the Best Where-ever he is!! That is when I moved to Grand Island.  I had heard that it was the 3rd largest City in Nebraska...I am still looking for the extra 100,000s of people. We are a population of about 40,000.  Missing a few people wouldn't you say. Well in 83, I married a Nebraska Man older than us by 10 yrs. So I was Deborah Peterson.  We never saw each other and I loved it, got into my career. I became an Emergency Medical Tech, worked in ER, I am the one that when the Dr. cracked open the Chest, I ripped out the Heart massaged it and put it back in and brought you back to Life, and then someone else sews you back up, I am a Respiratory Tech, a Dietary Nutritionist. Like that Medical Field. Seems most of us do huh!! Did that for 7 yrs. In  '89 I seemed to notice that I did not know my hubby at all, and I was Home sick. And I wanted Children, well, I finally was blessed with my daughter in 90 who is is a doll, and looks just like me, acts like me too, and then a yr later with my Son in 91. So today I have a daughter 13 and a son 12. Which are Straight A Students, in Band, Honor Choir, Show Choir, traveling Soccer teams, Volleyball, Basketball, Youth Group at Church.
I am divorced AGAIN in 2000 I could not handle Mr. Peterson's abuse, and ran off to get divorced.  I am fortunate that I was able at that time to Travel with my Company, "A Healthier YOU", to the West Coast, lived in Seattle, Blaine Washington, and then moved into Vancouver British Columbia, and then from there to Toronto.  I love Canada. I hope to retire to Toronto, for me it was like living in a Mini Chicago, and Chi town in NOT Mini... Had to move back to finish up the divorce and take care of the kids. I got into Writing while in Canada and Writing materials for my Healthier YOU business.  So I started writing for newspapers on nutrition, then wrote stories for the paper and then the Kids and I started a Kids Press Page.  I decided I like writing and Kids, just being around kids, that I decided to take an Aptitude test for The Children's Institute in West Redding, CT and I passed. I now am going to School to be a Children's Literature Writer.  It is a 2 yr program which I hope to be done in 13 months.  And in this time frame I should have a Novel for Children Published. Cool, HUH.  Went back to school and have a Certificate which I am not sure what it means, but I am a Substitute Teacher for Early Childhood Development, 3,4,5 yr olds. Mostly to the Hispanic school out here. I speak to them in English, the translator translates in Spanish and they repeat to me in English, and these little people Go All Day. No Am's or PM's they are in one class from 8am-3pm.  When nap time Comes around, Miss C, is what they call me, is usually found by one of the kids napping too!! how funny. But not good! There's that Old age thing again (47). I sometimes miss everyone in Rockford, but, since my mom passed away Christmas of 90, I have not returned home much.  My brother John (75) comes out here to see my kids.  Have no clue where my brother Scott (77) is at all. I tell my kids about Rockford and when we go to Lincoln I tell them Lincoln is the size of Rockford, and I do have fond memories of Rockford, St. Anthony's and Boylan.  At the time, I never thought much about a Catholic Education System, and hated my parents for sending me to Boylan, but, when you have kids of your own, your attitude sure changes about the Education Level out there in the Public Schools. So I am glad I graduated from Boylan.
As I Looked at the reunion pictures, I do not recognize a lot of people, I can only hope that I look about the same, only More Attractive!!! I look at the names of us in our school photos and remember seeing some of you in the Hall and saying HI or in a Homeroom or a Class.  30 yrs changes us all. I hope that we have become not only Older but more Wiser and Spiritual.  I changed my name back to Conevera.  Who would of known me As Deborah Peterson....would love to get an email:   to keep in touch...

After moving around the country over the past ten years, Mary and I have finally settled down in Westminster, Colorado.  A long way from such cities as San Francisco, Chicago and Denver, not including a four year stop in Albuquerque.  Recently I finished at the University of Wyoming and received a degree in Architectural Engineering.

Best wishes for the future, with continued long and successful life for all.
