| Change Your Mind Day -- June 2006 |
Location: Lagoon Picnic Area, Rocky River
Metropark

| The event began with a Tai Chi workout led by the Cleveland Buddhist
Temple's Craig Horton. The day started off cool and damp, but turned
into a glorious Ohio summer afternoon. |
| After Craig led the tai chi demonstration, he also led a classic
Zen meditation sitting. Craig studied with Sensei Ogui, former supervising
minister at CBT. Sensei Ogui is now head of the Buddhist Churches
of America. |
| Kris Kiko-Cozy delighted the attendees with a beautiful harp solo
under the trees (above). Below, Jackie Moore and her husband enjoy
Kris' performance. |
| Above left: After tai chi and meditation, attendees appreciated
the musical break. Above right: The altar under the trees was built
with art objects contributed by several of the Buddhist groups contributing
to the program |
| Above and below, members of Cleveland's CloudWater Zendo, led by
Ven. Shih Ying Fa, performed the Surangama Mantra, a traditional part
of the Ch'an morning service. |
| Above, BPF Cleveland member Nikki Antonio assists the children in
coloring peace mandalas with colored sand. At the end of the day,
they carried the sand to the Rocky River. |
| The potluck table was filled to over flowing at the beginning of
the afternoon. By the end of the day there was little left but crumbs. |
| Above, Fred Schweig, coordinator of Cleveland Shambhala, led attendees
in a Shambhala guided meditation based on visualizing colors. |
| Above, Mike Hovancek and Maegen Michaels perform an original composition
by Hovancek who brought along a number of self-made and unique instruments.
| Ven. Dean Williams, a Soto Zen priest, led a meditation on the Buddhist
concept of loving kindness. In the background, Ven. Shih Ying Fa of
the CloudWater Zendo. |
| BPF Cleveland members are tuckered out but happy at the end of the
first Change Your Mind Day observance ever held in the Cleveland region.
