General Construction Tips

From Randy Bates. In building my torso it was close to how you built yours don't have any pics taken during construction ,,sorry so I cant help you there..just recently taken some of completed Robot. As I said this was done on a extreme budget will try to explain and keep short. The tread section was made just for display....One piece instead of two ..put together from left over scrap pieces of wood...the treads cut, shaped and grooves made from wood and painted along with the treads wheels. Many of the ideas came from different sources ..The "How to Book" different web pages and some of my ideas. The Knees and hinges wood and the lower bellows below the knees made from plywood(This was very time consuming) Cutting then sanding the triangular bellows (edge) on each. The how to book mentions his were made from wood.So so far it cost me nothing.(couple cans primer and paint come later) The bellows or legs were made same as many sites have listed pipe insulation on wood frame...saving money I pieced the frames to size and hot gluing together so as to not have to buy whole sheet.I had left over wood from ...Wood reinder I cut and made for christmas(lawn deer for decoration) The pipes insulation was $1.something each used 12 or so. waist plate donut ring wood. torso Large can fiberglass, weather strips..large sheet foam used to make barrel shape of torso(got free) and on sale from craft store foam blocks for upper and lower curved section of torso...cut curved and sanded smooth. A lot of work as IM sure you know So this didnt cost that much as well. Collar I used pvc tubing 1/4 inch bought .07 cents per foot used $4.something (like plastic tubing for fish aquaruims. Mentioned in "how to book" used for Robot in commerial.... ribs, and voice box same. ears made from wood dowel and round wooden balls bought at craft store came close to fibding cheap bubble craft store had glass tranuims but were to small. The brains were cut and put together fromplastic diveders i had.....the finger(brain ) from color markers(pen casing) bought from dollar store. I left a few details out but you can see this did not cost much. when
