Brandon's Quick Comments on Assassin's Creed 2

So, to start off, I would like to point out that this is not a full review, I have been very busy and am unable to write a full review until further notice.
Before you start the main story, I recommended watching Lineage, a prequel that mainly talks about Ezio's father's time as an Assassin. It is on the web and included with the game (which was a pleasant surprise). Now on to the story mode, if you had any problems with the first Assassin's Creed, it is almost certainly fixed here. The mission structure is more "Use your revamped mini map to find a mission, none of which include pickpocketing, sitting on benches, or fighting preachers. Each mission has its own personality and is different." Overall, the mission structure is simply put, fixed. Assassin's Creed 2 is filled with side quests, Codex Pages (papers written by Altair that detail different things, scattered around Italy), side assassinations, races, and other things. My favorite side quest is the villa, he more invest into this city, the more money you make from it. You can help the local shops, church, military, well and other things. In exchange, you get a reduced price. To wrap this up, sorry for this being kinda short, Assassin's Creed 2 get a perfect 10 out of 10 from what I've played so far. If you're on the fence, I really recommend picking this game up. A full review will be coming in the next upcoming days, so look for that.

BS Gaming News, November 12th

We were planning on attending the midnight launch for Assassin's Creed 2, however to to circumstances beyond our control, that is not going to happen.Brandon still planning on picking up the game before Christmas, but our coverage is going to be delayed even further due to his busy schedule. Sorry guys, we were looking forward to this, but it seems it will not be coming for a while. Also, due to lack of a PSP, we will not have a review of Assassin's Creed Bloodlines, which comes out on the same date as AC2, November 17th.
We are also planning to get Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition and Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner, nothing is final until our review is published, but be on the look for those in the coming weeks

BS Gaming News, Saturday October 3rd, 2009

Remember this date, today is a historic day in BS Gaming. Today, one of our founding members, Sam, has handed his half of BS Gaming (as BSG is divided between Brandon and Sam) to our newest member, Mitch. This means that Mitch now joins Brandon at the head of BS Gaming, while Sam is no longer a major part of the group. The overall vision of BS Gaming, "To provide honest and serious reviews," will remain the same.

Zone of the Enders vs Metal Gear and Recommendations

With our new review of Zone of the Enders, we feel that it is necessary to compare the two series, Zone of the Enders and Metal Gear

Zone of the Enders Similarities Metal Gear
Based on combat Epic Boss Battles Based on stealth
Short cut scenes Memorable Story Long cut scenes
World Map/Fly to different areas Great Music Stay in one main area (except MGS4)
Side Missions
Feature Giant Mecha Very small side quests (Tsuchinoko, Ghost Pictures etc)
Pick your battles and leveling up system (Kinda goes with number one)

Avoid battles. In some games, after a boss battles, you'll gain more health (Again, kinda relates to number one)

Overall the games are very different from each other. In our video review, we recommend ZOE to three types of people. These are hard core Hideo Kojima fans, Mecha Anime fans, and those who are looking for a good action game. We would like to go into more detail..

Type of Person
Why or Why Not Recommended
Hard Core Hideo Kojima Fans
Very recommended, worth hunting down.
Hard Core Metal Gear Fans
Recommended if willing to try something new, not recommended if looking for more Metal Gear (excluding MGS2 Demo)
Mecha Anime Fans
Recommended, but may not be worth a hunt as ZOE can be a rare game.
If you like in Europe, Konami recently released ZOE: The Second Runner which is worth a try
Casual Gamers/
Those looking for good action game
Again, recommended but may be hard to find and the second tittle was rereleased in Europe.

Site News
The Discussion Topic section has recently been moving away from its purpose, discussing broad gaming topics like problems or other interesting topics and giving BS Gaming News, to a regular industry news section. That is no more, and we would like to make it very clear that we are not a news site, BS Gaming is a reviewing website.

Project Natal, a cheap imitation of the Eye Toy or a gaming revolution? Many asked this question when Microsoft announced the new device. Similar to Eye Toy, it is a camera that detects movements. For example, IGN reported that in a driving game, moving your foot forward makes you go faster and back to go slower. Hands are up in front of you similar to actually driving. So it looks to be very promising and we are looking forward to see how developers can come up with original ideas for it.

Kojima Production "Next"

Kojima Productions launched a teaser for its next game. Several countdown timers have been added along with pictures of men that resemble Raiden and Big Boss. They also made another page that shows only a mask. Brandon has been following this from the start on his own website, metalgearhelp.4t.com. On it, he made a blog which gives updates on the teaser along with fan speculations. Pictures and links to other articles are included.

BS Gaming Teams

Because of the two new additions to the team, we have decided to set up three teams based on what system each of our members owns. Brandon owns a Playstation 2 and Playstation 3, he is the main review of the BS Gaming Sony Team. Sam has a Wii and a DS, so he is the head of the BS Gaming Nintendo Team. Rock and Steve-o own an Xbox 360, they are currently part of BS Gaming Microsoft Team

Important BS Gaming information for the new site

Welcome to the New BS Gaming, if you do not already know the New BS Gaming is a project for relaunching BS Gaming after our 2008 drought. The biggest part of this being the new site design. We have some important information regarding the previews and news sections that have been added. First off, previews are kind of hard to come by, that is why we read other magazines. Still, the previews and news sections will come along slowly, however we still support them. A new BS Gaming Battle is planned, and we have more reviews on the way. However we are having an issue with Wii Reviews at the moment, Sam is very busy these days and is having a hard time submitting the reviews. Rest assured that he will get them done though. So overall, the New BS Gaming is coming along great and while we may have some slow areas now, we will do everything in our power to make sure that you have the best information.

Mirror's Edge - Original but is it worth your time?

DICE has created Mirror's Edge, a first person platformer that involves jumping from building to building and a little shooting. To get a little more in dept,  you will be jumping over fences as well as zip lining from point A to B. Wall running and grabbing on to pipes hanging off walls is a life saver that will be necessary to succeed. Combat does play a role in Mirror's Edge, you are left with a choice of using a reaction command like ability you to affectively remove the threat in front of you and continue on or punching and kicking all that dare to stand in your way. On the Playstation 3, the controls may feel a little wonky at first since the attack is at the R2 button contrary to popular games like Metal Gear Solid 4 or even Playstation 2 games like Socom where the R1 button handles the attacks however you do get used to all the moves and abilities you are required to execute in order to advance. The SIXAXIS controller is used very the way Sony intended it to be used. The tilt sensing is used while walking across pipes that lead to other buildings. It is also used while rolling and disarming but these take practice. You will be spending a lot of your time in Mirror's Edge looking at a breath taking view of the city because of the large buildings that make up much of the game. The graphics in some cut scenes are cell-shaded which looked really good. The city looks, sounds, and feels like a real city with an airplane flying over ever few minutes. The enemy AI, especially earlier in the game, does a good job of making you run for your life and you will be under fire many times trying to escape. The game is extremely short and can be beat in a single weekend, however, if you are the type to want to get your money out of your purchases you will not be disappointed. A race mode is available, however there are alternate pathways that you must find to shave seconds off your time. There are also moves, like sliding, that make you loose momentum and take time. Fellow video game website IGN has a video guide for some of the hidden paths and showed how to get to them as well as showing what moves to do where in order to improve your time. Hidden Runner Intel can also be found according to a loading screen. Unfortunately, that and higher difficulty levels are all Mirror's Edge offers in terms of replay value. Overall, yes Mirror's Edge is a great game for any gamer who enjoys platforming or speed runs and a great addition to any Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 owner's collection.

Our reaction the the new Final Fantasy XIII trailer

If you are anything like Brandon, you are ready to play Final Fantasy XIII. The newest trailer was a treat from Square Enix that showed real time gameplay and characters. The new battle window was a little confusing for us, at the bottom of the screen there were menus possibly for a turn based or active time battle system. However the abilities and moves looked more like a Kingdom Hearts game. It looks as if you are able to have one, two or three party members at a given time. It looks like there is one male and two female. We got a glimpse of the guy and the first girl in a previous trailer showing some insane moves. As for the story, even with the subtitles Square so kindly added, it is still a little hard to understand what some characters are trying to say particularly at the end of the video. We got that a group of volunteers is being formed to eliminate a threat from another city or area. We hope you have enjoyed the new trailer and have a peaceful wait for the North American release, which is as of right now, some time
in 2010
