Welcome
to Metal Gear Help, where evil
is powerful but
courage is solid! I
will make walkthroughs and show Easter
Eggs for Metal Gear
games and provide news for anything
Kojima Productions related. I have been a fan of Metal
Gear for a long
time, and I nearly mastered almost all of
them. Also my Playstation 2
is nearly dead, so if something
takes a minute to load, please just cope with it.
January 30th, I know that we're going pretty slow with Metal Gear Solid
2. I'm uploading two more parts today so be sure to check those out
later. After I finish Metal Gear Solid 2, I'm going to take a break
from uploading videos until mid March or the beginning of April. The
reason for this is that I do not my Metal Gear Solid 3 walkthrough to
be going as slow as Metal Gear Solid 2 is. My plan is to make MGS3
videos at my own pace, then upload several a week later in April, that
way we'll get more videos than we're getting now and we will be able to
move on to my next project faster. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake will be
after Metal Gear Solid 3! I had planned on doing this walkthrough after
I finished Subsistence, but then I went back to redo MGS1 and MGS2,
which is were we are right now. Metal Gear 2 is one of my favorites
game of all time. It was exactly how 2D Metal Gear should be
made and did so many things correctly. It is one of the highest points
in the series and I am very excited to make the walkthrough for it!
Enjoy!
January 19th, Hey guys, it's been a while, hasn't it? Nothing much is
new in terms of Metal Gear Help, which is why I haven't posted anything
new in the past month (with the obvious exception the Preview Blog,
which gets updated on a regular basis). Today, I really wanted to share
my ideas on how to make Metal Gear Solid Rising a truly great game!
How Metal Gear Solid Rising Should
be Done
I don't know about any of you, but with Peace Walker being a PSP
exclusive, Rising is the only thing we Playstation 3 owners can look
forward to from Kojima Productions - that and Zone of the Enders 3,
which I am also very hyped up for even though it hasn't been announced
yet. So, here is my ideas on how to make Metal Gear Solid Rising a game
on par with other games in the series. If Kojima Productions follows
this list, it will be great in my eyes!
Make it set between Sons of Liberty and Guns of the Patriots -
This really doesn't need much of an explanation, if they make it set
post MGS4 with nothing from the past games relevant, it's a missed
opportunity. However, it wouldn't be as bad as if it were a
"continuation of MGS4" game, but as I said, between MGS2 and MGS4 is
preferable.
Remain a "Tactical Espionage Action" game, but sprinkle some
"Ninja Raiden Sigma" around - If Rising doesn't remain to stealth game,
then I'm already disappointed. That said, I would like some action
sequences, but no more than what was in the previous games. A stealthy
ninja game with occasional action sequences please!
Epic Story - If it is set between MGS2 and MGS4, then I want
Kojima Productions to rewrite the whole "Area 51" bit. It should fill
in gaps between the two games (like Arsenal crashing into Federal
Hall). If it is set post MGS4 (which would already be causing
problems), please do not have "Rose and Little John have been
kidnapped! Only Ninja Raiden can save them" as the main plot arc. I
have a strong faith that Kojima Productions is not that lazy.
Original Bosses - Some ninja verses ninja battles would be
amazing. However, this shouldn't be the whole game. A boss that shares
elements of both Vulcan Raven and The Fury (and adds in it's own
personality) would be cool!
Located in One Area with an MGS2 Look an Feel to it - We do
not need a Big Shell replica, but I do want things like tight
corridors, elevators, computer rooms etc. to give Rising a modern like
feel. An area similar to Arsenal Gear is also expected. A tanker style
area would also work. I'm not really big on outdoor areas that Metal
Gear has seemed to evolve to, but I guess they wouldn't be that bad.
Regular Metal Gear Weapons - High Frequency Blade, Socom,
tranquilizer gun. Maybe a knife, maybe an assault rifle with limited
ammunition. The game really shouldn't be a shooter, or a hack 'n slash,
there needs to be a balance between them.
MGS2 Style Music - Harry Gregson Williams did a wonderful job in
MGS2. MGS4's music wasn't bad by any means, but it really wouldn't fit
this type of game. MGS2's music, on the other hand, would fit the way I
personally want the game to go. It would make a great theme for the
game's areas, but shouldn't be a carbon copy of MGS2's themes. I do
want some new stuff.
VR Missions - How cool would it be to have over 300 VR Missions
(Just like in Substance) to play around with? Heck, how cool would it
have been to have half as many in MGS4? Online leader boards would be a
nice addition!
Hideo's "Touch" - Hideo Kojima is producing the game, so it
should feel like he worked
on it. It should be rich with themes, backstories, and hidden goodies.
Some hidden Codec Calls would also be cool.
I realize that I wrote a lot about Metal Gear Solid 2 in there, but I
think that Rising should be like MGS2. I also really want it to take
place in the five years post Metal Gear Solid 2. I want them to retcon
what they wrote in the Metal Gear Solid 4 Database about Raiden being
captured by the Patriots. It is all great up until they add in Area 51.
That just seems so out of place. I would've much rather have had it be
some random Patriot facility.
So, there it is! That is exactly what I want from Metal Gear Solid
Rising. With a tittle like Rising, which is already well into
development, it is hard not to have these kind of wishes. However, like
I said, Rising is already well into development and there is supposed
to be an 80% chance we'll have it by Christmas, so obviously, Kojima
Productions has already made the choices to either agree or disagree
with me. Some of these are more probable than others, but I really just
wanted to let out how I feel about this game!
December 29th, Hey guys, I hope you had a great holiday! I've got an
update. My plans for after this "Redoing Metal Gear Solid and Metal
Gear Solid 2's Walkthrough" part we're going through has been a little
dark. Today, I would like to announce that I will be redoing my Metal
Gear Solid 3 walkthrough as well. As a whole, I felt that the
walkthrough went well, but there were a few parts that were simply put,
a disaster. So, after MGS2 is finished (I know that we aren't very far,
but I've got videos saved on my computer that are waiting to be
uploaded. I'm actually almost at the end of the game.) Metal Gear Solid
3 is on the list. I'm not sure if I am going to use Subsistence again,
or go with the original Snake Eater, I prefer to use originals (the
reason I used Subsistence to start with is because my Playstation 2
wouldn't play Snake Eater at the time and Subsistence seemed like a
better choice) so I am leaning toward Snake Eater, but I may change my
mind. Once we knock down Metal Gear Solid 3, I am probably going to do
Metal Gear Solid 4 to just finish up with MGS1 through MGS4. After
that, I'll worry about the original Metal Gear games, Metal Gear 2
shouldn't be that much of a problem, although I do find stealth to be
very hard in that one, the original Metal Gear is going to be a
nightmare for me as I am not as good at that game.
December 19th, Hey guys, again, I apologize for the lack
of new videos. I plan on uploading more this weekend so look for them.
I wanted to make a post today to get the record strait on something.
I've been reading a lot of forums and it seems that people are always
fighting over Liquid Ocelot. So we can all finally be on the same page
about this, I've wrote up what happened to Revolver Ocelot from the
aftermath of Shadow Mosses to the beginning of MGS4.
The Truth about Liquid Ocelot
After Ocelot's battle with Snake at Shadow Mosses, Grey Fox cut off
Ocelots hand. After Shadow Mosses, Ocelot took Liquid Snake's arm onto
himself. Liquid's persona did, in fact, take over Ocelot during the
events of Metal Gear Solid 2. I see a lot of people getting confused at
this point of the time line, but that is how it actually happened.
Pretend there was no MGS4 for a moment, one would still be able to
conclude that Liquid did take over Ocelot. There are two main points in
the game that support this. One is the fact that you hear Liquid's
voice as he is talking to Snake during both the Tanker and Arsenal Gear
sections. Lastly, on two separate occasions, Ocelot tried to resist
Liquid taking over. "Get out of my mind Liquid!" during the Tanker and
"No, not now!" during Arsenal Gear. If it were just an act, he would
have no reason to resist his own ploy at all, that would make no sense.
So, we've determined that there is no way to get around that Liquid
took over Ocelot during the events of MGS2. After the Big Shell
Incident, Ocelot removed Liquid's arm from himself. This can be clearly
seen during the final battle with him in MGS4, it is not the same hand
we saw in MGS2. After he removed Liquid's arm, he underwent
hypnotherapy to convince himself that he was Liquid so that he could
destroy the Patriots and resurrect Big Boss. This does not, however,
contradict what Big Boss said at the end of MGS4 when he said that
Nanomachines have never been able to turn one person into another, no
nanomachines were involved in this. After Snake and Ocelot's battle in
MGS4, Ocelot's hypnotherapy actually wore off and he died as Ocelot in
mind and body. This specific part of the Metal Gear universe is not a
matter of opinion, or how you want to interpret it, as some fans may
have suggested. It is a cold, hard, fact and there is no way to get
around or bypass the truth.
I hope this clears up a lot of confusion I've been seeing. Before I
wrap this up, I want to say that I plan on clearing the home page again
at the end of the month and delete any old, unneeded posts.
October 6th: My Metal Gear
Solid 2 walkthrough is now underway! Be sure to check it out. As some
of you may know, I was planning on a walkthrough Metal Gear 2: Solid
Snake and then redoing Metal Gear Solid 3. These plans may be to be put
on hold due to my Playstation 2. Both discs of Subsistence causes a
"Disc Read Error" and once I got "Please insert a Playstation or
Playstation 2 format disc." I find that both laughable and frustrating
at the same time. I guess those two walkthroughs are a ways off, but if
I can't get the two working by the time MGS2 is finished, then I will
start Metal Gear Solid 4! Metal Gear Help supports the Weekly Nerd and his Metal
